Thought I should post this here, in addition to the information I added to the topic, "Will Sandy Slow Production."
Mtone posted information stating that he had done some research regarding USFA and came up with the following web site address; www.usfazipfactory.com.  The web site is now up and working and if you were hoping for some good news from USFA you are definitely in for a shock.  Here, at last, is a peek at the "new direction" USFA is taking - the apparent results of a year of "re-tooling."

(For more pictures of this... I don't even know what to call it... click on the "Request More Info" link once you get to the web site.)

 :'(  now i'm really depressed.

are soldiers actually asking for combat weapons in 22LR to go into battle? wtf??????

ok, it might make a fun toy for ninja mall wariors, but geez....

USFA - RIP

Doc Sunrise

He has been working on that for over 2 years.  I never thought he would dismantle his entire company to create that thing.  I would love to see the marketing research that was done???

Mossy Pops

Okay, I've been quietly waiting for USFA to let us know what they will be doing in the future.  My hope still springs eternal, however....

I watched the video on the USFAZip site and I have to say I found it pretty amusing.  I doubt they were going for that effect, but its a comedy for sure.  I loved the line that said, 'only in your imagination till now'.  That was the funniest line in the whole video.  I can safely say that at no time in my life have I imagined a gun that was inspired by the Transformers cartoon/movie and scaled for midgets to boot.

I hope they don't completely kill the SAA production in order to create this thing cause it sure looks like a loser to me.  I can't think of a single situation where I would prefer to shoot a 22LR out of a toy gun instead of the 223 or 308 round from the gun the little feller' is attached to.  ::)

Major 2

It might be the bomb for Zombie Action Shooting

Problem is at the Site's  bottom " the request more information questionaire" the poster must
Add 16+5  ( or whatever pops up ) to clear the Spam lock...

Most of the market target group ( future voters ) will FAIL to get the answer right !   ::)

One odd, confusing video.  Lines like "transforms the battlefield," implying military intent, are followed up with "ZiP is fun" and "ZiP is sporty."  Fun?  And what, exactly, does "ZiP" stand for?  My guess would be "Zero Interest Predicted."

Old Doc

Unbelievable ! What is going on in the CEO's brain ? This carries "mad scientist" to a new extreme.

mtone

An ugly POS.  Looks like it uses Ruger mags.  Very long reach to the trigger.  With no grip, it has to be uncomfortable.  I'm sure they aren't molding plastic at the factory.  The rumor that all the machines are gone is no doubt true as there probably aren't to many non plastice parts in that thing.  Hey, it's the future of the company.   It will bring in the new year.

North Bender

Just unbelieveable.

Want more info on zippy?  Fill in the questionaire and don't forget to answer:

Do you play "X-Box, Playstation" interactive or multiplayer video games?

Because that's surely the client base they have decided to target.

Capt. John Fitzgerald

If USFA is going to dedicate all of their time and resources (as they have done in the past when introducing new products) into producing this abomination, it will surely be the ruin of the company.

It's a rainy, overcast day here in Seattle.  What could be more depressing?  Further research into USFA's latest endeavor.

Following the Yahoo link that Mtone posted on the topic "Will Sandy Slow Production," I ran across the following link to the "Gear Scout" section of the Military Times web site (www.militarytimes.com).  Apparently they received an e-mail from USFA touting their new product.  It reads,in part, as follows:;

"The next generation of future weapons in a light, compact form factor. Simple in design, ZiP™ is a new Modular Weapons System, delivering amazing features with performance and upgradeability. With a near unlimited service life – you will experience The Future of Fun and a great day at the range. Camping, hiking, exploring the world – ZiP™ adapts to any mission. MSRP $199.99 – $219.99. Call your dealer for price. Exclusive distribution to dealers via Davidson's Inc. ZIP- The Future of Fun."

Just the thing for all of those happy folks who go hiking or camping with their SCAR16 or M4.  And I especially like the line, "near unlimited service life."  Sort of like, "Congratulations ma'am, you're sort of pregnant."  Yes folks, it is here, "The Future of Fun," and it is only $199.99 - $219.99 away!

Rowdy Fulcher

Howdy
And people complained about the shot pistol . At least it was a revolver . I can Honestly say I don't want one of these things . I wish them the BEST .

Gen. Jackson

I'm new here to the CAS forum and this is my first post.

Concerning the USFA Zip... WOW LOL is this a joke or am I having a nightmare? This looks like something out of the video game HALO. Hahahaha! I am going to call it "The Needler" after a futuristic gun in said game. If any of you, or your kids, have played HALO - I think you will have a laugh.

A company that went from making probably the finest SAA in the world to making silly toys. How in God's name can a soldier use this in combat?

This is why the world makes fun of we Americans. Our country makes something incredible for a relatively short time, then as usual, goes and screws up the entire concept of why the company existed in the first place. I can think of hundreds of product examples but there are just too many to list (i.e., the world famous D104 microphone by Astatic which is no longer being made, Cross pens now made in China - we cannot even make a simple pen here anymore, and many famous American knife companys are just a few examples ).

Please somebody tell me this is all a bad dream.

QUOTE

We Celebrate 20 Years of making the highest quality single action revolvers for our great and loyal customers. 20 years is a long time to be doing anything these days . . . And so we are re-tooling and re-processing every part, every component updating every machine to continue that great work.

In view of this process, we are happy to report that all orders have been delivered to customers with deposits. Service and warranty repair continue normal operations.

We have not been resting on our laurels these last years - indeed we have the pleasure to announce that USFA has developed a new factory to support an entirely new product line and a new class of product. We are proud to announce the New ZIPFactory web launch is now open at ZIPFactory.com where we introduce the New ZIP Modular Weapons System.

ZIP- The Future of Fun. Enjoy the ZiP Intro video, Operators, Welcome!

Thank you for 20 great years, we think the next chapter is our best yet.

Hmmmmmmm. So what are they saying? That USFA will continue with the SAA? Does anyone think they will re-offer the Rodeo II at the previous prices?

mtone

If you talk the the lady that answers the phone you'll find all retail prices have gone up (SAs by $200) and the Rodeo and Rodeo II no longer exist.  So, if everygun that had a deposit (at the factory) has been completed, what about those that had deposits at a dealer.  Are they cancelled?

Gen. Jackson

mtone -

So USFA went up $200 dollars? Well then that would put it over the price for a genuine Colt. Basically I believe they have priced themselves out of the market for most people. Might as well get a new Colt now and they're available. Hell, for the price of one USFA SAA why not buy three Uberti Cattleman?

As for deposits made to dealers I have no idea, but I seriously doubt they will be honored.

How long did Eugene Stoner take to get a new weapons system adopted? And now with the war against terror winding down a notch; - Good Luck ???

I'm not sure what this thingy does, but it will take a LLOONNG time to get a practical weapon system out of it, especially with all the other "innovative" designs out there competing for shrinking defence dollars.
