Hi!

I was wondering if anyone of you have made the trousers from Buckaroo Bobbins sewing patterns? Are they using historical correct sewing methods and such?

oscar12388

Or any one of their patterns?

I've heard other complain about those patterns but haven't tried one myself.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

They're patterns, they work fine if you know what you are doing.  True historical sewing methods would be by hand or treadle machine.  But few men's clothes were made by hand after the Civil War, most were factory sewn on machines.  How hair spliting do you want and for what purpose?

I was thinking a time period of 1870's to around 1900. I just want it to be authentic as far as I can. Did the design of men clothing change from this time period? I am thinking of shirts, trousers, vests, coats.

Delmonico

Not a lot of change, but more variety than most think.  The patterens should do you fine, post a picture of what is in question, but I'm sure it's fine.

The only real complaint I've ever heard about them is cost and they tend to be a bit harder to work with than the more modern name brand patterns from the fabric store.

In other words the patterns tend to outsmart people at times.

i got a buckaroo bobbins pants pattern but aint opened it yet. i make all of my own re-enacting clothing and have used many different brands of patterns. most are close but i would suggest you make your garment from cheap fabric first and check the fit, make adjustments as neccessary and then make a permanant pattern from that. good luck
