I'm looking at getting an Uberti 73 Saddle Ring Carbine.

The rear sight is the old blade/ladder set up.  Those don't work well for my eyes.  Looks like it's dove tailed into the barrel.

Question:  Is there any problem dropping in the Semi-buckhorn rear sight from an Uberti '73 rifle?

I assume the dove tail is the same dimmensions.  Is there enough room on the barrel to fit the Uberti Semi-buckhorn?

Thanks guys.  I ordered up the short shank full buckhorn.  Apparently, the dovetail on he SRC is slightly smaller than the standard 3/8".  A little file work on the new sight base is needed.

I'll let you know how it turns out.

Just to share a few things I learned.

1).  The shank on the Uberti semi buckhorn rear rifle sight is too long to fit on the 73 SRC.  You could install backwards as an alternative.

2).  The Marbles short shank does fit.  It leaves very little space for the elevator.  In fact, you could only adjust up to the first two notches.

3).  The Marbles dove tail is very slightly oversized.  Three light passes with a fine file provided enough relief for a tight, but secure fit.

4).  The full buckhorn, plus Pioneer's front barrel band bead sight provide an really nice sight picture for close to medium ranged shooting.
