help with water canteen

Hi...
Have any of you made a canteen like this one?? I have lots of problem to shape the leather in the front  and back, I dont know how I will do it. Any tip?

There's a tutorial on Leatherworker.net in the "How do I do that" section on making a leather covered canteen.
I haven't tried that one yet but it's on my to do list.

That is a really simple fix. Shape and tool your leather on both sides like you have already started. Then for the side cut a strip of leather long enough to circle the circumference of the canteen exactly . where the two ends meet will be your closing seam also this is where you will cut your opening for the canteen spout. The leather strip should be wider than the canteen side,I'd cut it about two inches wider so that you will be able to fold the edges up to meet the front and back coverings. using welt pliers then go all around the edges pressing the sides edged and the front/back edges together. . When you have the edges pressed together trim off the excess and mark lacing holes all the way around on both sides. pull the covering off punch your lacing holes, replace the covering stitch up the seam at the spout hole then lace the parts together using a saddle lace and there you have it,clear as mud huh.

I hate to complain about such a beautiful canteen, but I personally would not like having to put leather on my lips while drinking from one of these canteens. I made one and just left the spout sticking out and used the original plastic cap. Doesn't look as original but is more usable(to me). Mine was just rough-out leather, not nearly as nice looking as yours, you have a real talent there.

I bought one of these canteens at Big 5 for $5.95 ... but the plastic lid was always made it look kinda cheesy,

Now perhaps, through Rick's post of the website, I might just have the impetus to make a leather cover for the plastic cap ....

The spout is sticking put, its just the cap thats covered with leather

You do some beautiful work! I have a canteen on my to-do list but I was going to make it entirely from leather and seal it with brewer's pitch.
