mtone, you are correct. The grips are original to the gun from the factory as per the label on the box and I assume the AB stands for Armory blue.

There have been some great comments on this thread.

I have several USFAs but the Pre-War w/ 2 cylinders is the prize.  The action is like lubricated glass and it's just a treasure to pull back the hammer.  I've handled a couple Colts fom the early 1900s and they also felt like that.

Well, here's hoping for the best w/ USFA.  If they do collapse my Pre-War is going to the moon.

I don't know so much about guns. I did buy 4 USFAs in the last 3 months, and comparing then to now you  can hardly find one.

If I can equate it to cars, I have 2 Ford GTs. They were only made 2 years. They now sell for stupid money.  I wish I had 10.  They have been better than any other investment I have . Why?  They have incredibly high quality and now they are scarce . USFA?

You guys may be crying all the way to the bank. Or, maybe Doug will fool us all and start mass production.

Unfortunately, the primary market for SA handguns is CAS.  The market in the periphery is actually minuscule as far as a manufactur is concerned.  CAS growth is just about non-existent at this point.  The prime movers and shakers are now mostly walking antiques and there is a tiny trickle of young folks becoming interested in playing the game.  The market fot a manufacturer without a cash leader just isn't there.  Colt doesn't make much money on there SA and USFA wasn't high profit either.  Start back up????  Not financially a smart move.  I wouldn't suggest holding your breath ..... you won't look good in "dead blue."
Over the last 15 years I've worked on a LOT of SAs.  Colt, USPFA (old name for USFA), USFA, Uberti, Piettia, and others.  I personally don't believe in safe queens for investment.  If I can't play with it, why bother.  So, the best value for dollar for the game(s) we play are Piettia and Uberti (Open Top & Conversion).  You should NOT have to need my services for something as expensive as a Colt, or many USFAs.  But you do if tou want to be competitive.
Don't cry in the beer for USFA.  Go get a Piettia or Uberti and have fun.  Where you can get two for the price of one q ;D

At my age, "lifetime warrantees" don't mean as much as they used to anyway. ;D

The Italians make good guns at a good price but sometimes you just want more than that. Sometimes you want a lot more. That's where USFA came in. If they fold forever, I'm gonna do a lot of crying because there simply is no other outlet for the products they produced. Period. Anywhere.

I also know a lot of folks who love a good single action that do not shoot CAS.

At least this USFA issue answers the question I've always had about lifetime warranties  yours or mine ?

Doc Sunrise

I have always liked the "Limited Lifetime Warranty"!  Thank goodness Gunsmiths are still around.
