A Glimmer of Hope?

Just checked the USFA web site and note that they have a "20th Anniversary Edition" SAA in the works.  I, for one, certainly hope that this means they are getting things back on track!
I also noted that there no longer is an "Ask the President" section for posting questions (not that any have been answered since last December) and that the only product now offered is the Single Action Army model.  MSRP is no longer listed for the SAA.  Sure hate to see the previously offered variations (Sheriff's Model, Double Eagle, Inspector Series, etc.) fall by the wayside but if it means they get the SAA back into production I can live with it.

A 20th anniversary edition coming out just before closing the doors??

Plus it looks like it will have full engraving coverage which should put it in the 5K range?  Just what the average CAS wants.

Gotta do 'something' with the leftover parts after you've sold off your machinery, I suppose - why not hand-assemble a few, and make a 'commemorative'?

Well friends do we have any FAITH . Do we still believe in USFA . I hope that being Patient is the key .   TRUTH is always found with time .

Pettifogger

I find the "new" site depressing.  No products listed.  No spare parts listed anymore.  "Call for price" on what is supposed to be a production gun isn't particularly encouraging.

Capt. John Fitzgerald

Spare parts are still listed but prices are not.  Each item is marked "contact USFA for pricing."

Would appear "El  Presadente" has tired of his hobby.  Another one bites the dust (sigh)

Been away for while and just noticed all the talk about USFA possible demise. Went on their web sight and noticed all changes others have mentioned. Also, noticed that the SA they have posted for purchase ("call for price") no longer offers it in 7.5 barrel length????

St. George

Must've run out of that length of barrel.

I will continue to cherish the 3 USFAs that I have.  It is such a shame.

Spoke with some folks in the industry who keep their ear to the woodwork.  The machines are gone, pretty much empty buildings, very few employees left and no manufacturing.
If you don't have the USFA you always wanted, your not going to get it.
If you have the USFA you always wanted, hang onto it.  Won't be any more.
Damn shame, really.

Who are "some folks in the industry who keep their ear to the woodwork"?  Some guy in a gun shop?

Slainte

I really would appreciate a statement of USFA of how they are going, as I have two guns on order since 1 1/2 years.
Having already two SAA in my collection from USFA, I am not really the big consumer. However there are surly several guys out like me, who would love to hear the word on the future. The best news would be, hey in a month you will cuddle your gun.
Since months I am hoping to get that news for the best SAA in the market, just my opinion.
But, every month passing the candle light on the end of the tunnel gets a bit dimmer.
Then, the rumors in here don't bring confidence.
It's a shame, that we, potential clients of USFA, are not being informed of the future.
All the communication tools are here available; it would just need a statement.
At the moment it feels like sitting in the waiting room of dentistry, with the little sick feeling in the stomach, is there a hole or am I clean ?

I do hope I am clean and my orders are just now being with tender loving care made and shipped.

Lets hope !

Slainte, have you tried calling USFA? That's absurdly long for them to take to fill your order. If you get a receptionist who just puts you off, ask to speak to Gary Grainger. I've dealt with him several times and he's a stand-up guy. If anyone there can help you, he can.

It makes me sick to think USFA may be shutting down. I hope it's just rumors and bs...

Capt. John Fitzgerald

And here is something else to contemplate...  Why did Doug Turnbull turn out a limited, one time offering of single action revolvers made up of USFA parts and bearing the Turnbull name?  Is it possible that USFA, strapped for cash, paid Turnbull off in parts for services rendered?  (I know, I know, the owner is rich but that's his money, not the company's, and it doesn't count for much if he has lost interest in the company.)  Why else would Turnbull embark on such an enterprise?

Invinoveritas

One of the truly oddest situations I have seen. On the one hand,

1. They don't go to gun shows anymore
2. Have nearly eliminated their product line up.
3. Formerly active dealers can't get their guns anymore
4. Rumors of equipment sell off and employees having left
5 the previously mentioned Turnbull Guns

but on the other hand

1. Donnelly has emailed me several times about some recent USA shooting team guns I bought and has been extremely accommodating
2. If you call there is an even chance that Grainger or Donnelly will personally answer the phone ( could be good or bad sign)
3. Donnelly says all is fine and new models are forthcoming.

It s private company and if it was just a passing hobby for a wealthy guy, why would he remain so active?  Looking for investors ?Truly perplexing to me.

Capt. John Fitzgerald

I agree Invino.  Everything points to a business that is going under (or, more accurately, a business that is being allowed to go under).  But if that is the case, then why not just turn off the lights and go home?  Why stick around for all these months putting up a front if there no point to it?    It truly is a mystery!
I, for one, sincerely hope that USFA does have some sort of game plan in the works and that sometime in the hopefully not too distant future we start seeing the "2nd Generation" USFA's showing up at our dealers.

Well for all that I know(which might not be much ::)) they could be relocating. It's just a thought.
A work in progress.

Texagun, obviously not somebody I owe an answer to.
