Casting 454 round balls

The .380" and .454" mold orders are here and on the shelf now.  I'm expecting the .457s around Friday or so.

FWIW, they cast great round balls.

I'll post a separate thread now.

Yes, you can outrun a Lee 20# pot with this new mold.   Don't ask how I know. Rocking along, minding my own business, pouring balls real fast.  Had to stop for a few minutes. Poured the just finished balls out on a table top for a quick inspection. Yup. A lot of them show "cold lead sign". Poured them back into the pot and started over at a slower pace.

A few hundred later. I stopped for the day. Took 10 balls and put them on the scale. Less than .3 gr variation with the majority within .1.

And, whatcha gonna do with all them balls?  You see, this new mold gets you past casting and into shooting.  Shooting is what it's all about.

Yer real problem now is to book enough shootin' time.  Casting time is already a past concern.  Enjoy the shooting!!
