My buddy dropped off his Art Holly made North Carolina style Kentucky Long Rifle. It is a really beautiful rifle. As I understand it Art Holly copied this from one in a museum in North Carolina and made it for an older gentleman in Kentucky. In about 1979 as that Kentuckian was getting on in years he sold it to my friend. I know enough about it thatIi can tell it is in perfect working order. However, that is were my knowledge ends.

Can you tell me more about it? My firend wants to sell it but I have no idea what it might be worth.
I would like to help him out since he is putting the money back into founding a birds of prey group for hawks and falcons and the like. http://www.internationalheritageconservancy.org/

Does it have a swamped ( tapered and flared) barrel or straight??

Look to be a plain but functional Lancaster style. Can't really see a good profile, but kind of looks it. Lock is probably Siler or L&R.
A good shooter, without carving etc runs $1000-1500. More if by a well known maker. Looks like one to take to the woods.

Hopalong:

Check out the Muzzleloading Forum site. There are a lot of knowledgeable folks there, as well, and more open in my experience.

more than likely it has an Administrator of Moderator, that has to key you in and has not reviewed the  Application as yet  :-\

I believe Art Holly made Miniatures as well .... I not realy up on his work however....

Hacker Martin  yeah !

anyway you have what looks to be rather plain game getter.... devoid of fancy furniture....
without seeing and examining it.... Ball Park is hard to say.

However it there is no sentimental attachment.... you might place in on gunbroker with about a $1200-1400 starting and see where it that takes. you.

when planets align...do the deal !
