Rant: LOST??

I just read the results of the Emmys. Who the heck are the people who vote? LOST won the top Drama series Emmys and Deadwood got doodly squat. Deadwood did get some of the little ones for costume, makeup and cinematography, but those were given out on the 11th.

What the blue blazes is LOST?? Does anyone watch it? What is it, another reality show? Not only that, the episodes that won Emmys were the PILOTS. It wasn't even the regular show! For all I know, the show stunk like a dead female fox that had been on an Arizona highway in the middle of summer for four days.

And whatshername got her fourth Emmy for playing a nagging, obnoxious mother on Everyone Loves Raymond? Criminy, she's been playing that role or a varient of it for the past 20 years, and she gets FOUR Emmys?? It's a dumb show that uses plot lines from sitcoms of 20 years ago, so it takes the top comedy awards?? Just further proof that the world has gone stoopit.


Good grief... LOST?? Somebody get Mister Wu and feed those ignorant, mindless, couch potatoe Emmy voters to his pigs.

Now you have to remember.....many of those who vote on this are Yuppies and they don't give a hoot about actual history.  They could care less who was who and who did what back in the Old West. On top of that...they don't know who was who!  "Bat Masterson...what team did he play on?"  These folks are more into "now" than "back then"  Two thirds of them can't trace their family back farther than grandad!  Anything that covers the past doesn't interest them.

I ain't even hear of LOST, but then I restrict most of my viewing to the Encore Westerns channel, and most to the Discovery-based Channels.  (History, History International, etc).  However, I do believe "a dead female fox that had been on an Arizona highway in the middle of summer for four days" wouldn't smell too much!    (At least not here in Nevada, it's too nice and dry.)  Del might be able to scrape it up and use it for one of his F.R.I.S.B.E.E things over in Newbrassky. Russ T., I understand your point, but a female fox smells worse than a skunk (walked across the path of one the other day, it was nasty). Add flies and maggots to that mixture, and it'd stink. Oh, yeah, it'd stink.

From what I've been able to find out, "LOST" is an ABC "drama" about survivors of a plane crash on a Pacific island and the drama they endure in the course of survival.  The only reason I know even this much about the show is that it's on ABC and I see the commercials for it during Monday Night Football.  And, correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they do this idea (and a lot more fun too) on Gilligan's Island?

I felt really bad for Ian McShane last night.  None of the other actors characters had near a much depth and layers as Al Swearengen.  Well, there's always the Cable ACE awards.

Some wiener won best actor in a drama series. David Spade, I think. Good grief, he's playing the same character he honed on Saturday Night Live and in all those "NO" commercials. Yeah, give him an Emmy, too. Ian McShane deserved it. I think it was the "give it back to network TV, we are tired of HBO winning all the time" Emmys.  Instead of giving them to crap shows, they should take the hint and produce higher quality series. Haven't the networks noticed that their viewing audience is dwindling, rapidly? I watch network TV when the 'Skins are playing.

I watched it once. I shouldn't have, it was a waste of time. Should've watched one of my many Westerns. God's Gun is even better than Lost. 

Yer right, IROT. It is purdy much Gilligan's Island as a drama.

I agree with you 100%.
LOST?  Give me a break.  I tried to watch it once but got bored quickly.  I pretty much have given up on network TV anyway.  I split my TV time between the Westerns Channel, History Channel, HBO and Showtime.  I only watch network TV when I am visiting others.  I had to sit through "Brat Camp", "Meet your new Mommy" and others on Wednesday evenings with my parents.

My wife watched Raymond for awhile, but I can't get all caught up in dysfunctional families and relationships:  Friends, Darma and Greg, Housewives, ANY daytime show, Crazy About You, Will and grace...all TOTALLY outside my life experience sphere.

Only time I'm on one of the big three( four-five?), is for news and maybe a sporting event. Otherwise, History, Discover, Fox News, or The Weather Channel. Outdoor Channel when "Cowboys" and 'American Rifleman" is on. Network TV sucks...........Buck
