Shooting Hawes Western Marshal .44 Mag single action revolver with black powder cartridges. The Western Marshal was made by J.P. Saurer in West Germany in the 1960s and early 1970. It is basically a Colt SAA clone with a few differences.

Nice video, Mike.  The JP Sauer 44 mag was also my first ever revolver albeit I am a few years older than you.  I learned early that you could safely and accurately shoot a number of calibers in these guns...to include 44 Russian, 44 Colt, 44 Special as well as 44 Mag.  I got rid of mine due to a child on the way and every penny counted in those days. Since then I have procured another, imported by Hy Hunter and right away cut the barrel back to 4 3/4" and added a sight made from one of the old silver 1 Peso pieces. She now shoots to same poa with two slightly different loads, ie. 200 rnfp and 250 (265 w/ww) Keith bullet both in front of 7.5 gr. Unique.  With an action like glass and accuracy beyond anything you could ask for, this will be the last gun I ever part with because it is now to my liking and I shoot it more than any of my other handguns. Did I mention that I also have a 44 WCF cylinder that she shoots just as well?  Enough babble for now. Keep up the interesting videos, God Bless and shoot safe.

Good flick Mike,

I'm thinkn' that the Remington 44 Magnum is misnamed when it's loaded with Holy Black.  When I load mine up with bp I label them "44 Extra Long Russian".  Makes the PC crowd happy.  A compressed charge of FFFg bp pushing a 200 grain Mav Dutchman Big Lube®LLC bullet does the work for me.

I shoot a brace of Ruger Vaquero originals happily chambered in 44ELR.

Hi Dick,

Around 1996 or 1997 I tried popularizing the designation .44 RCF for .44 Mags loaded with B-P. I figured the .44 RCF (Remington Center Fire) was a good nod to the .44 WCF, better known these days as .44-40.

I use the same bullet and powder charge in both .44 RCF and .44 WCF. That being a 200-gr Mav Dutchman bullet over 33 grains of 2Fg.

Alas .44 RCF never caught on with the general public, but I still use it.

Now come on, didn't anybody else get a kick out of the honey dew and the shaving creme can?

I loved them!

AWWW shux, looks like lots of fun BUT alas, I would have to be shooting from three feet to duplicate it!

I have some really nice single actions in my collection. I've got a couple of Colts and some really nice Italian clones, but I heel a more emotional attachment to my old Hawes Western Marshal than I do to any of the others.

I guess I remember all the time I spent as a kid drooling over all the Hawes sixguns in the Western Auto catalog. And, unlike the Colts, I knew I could save up enough money for a Hawes.

I retired this gun from CAS a long time ago, but this gun, that I spent $75 on 39 years ago, is priceless to me.

I understand the feeling, when the deal between Hawes and Sauer went south, I was stationed in West Germany. The excess inventory Sauer had was sold through the military rod and gun clubs, I bought a nice 357 Wester Marshall for about $100.  I still have the revolver and will never sell it.  It shoots POA and is a great gun to use.

Hi Border Ruffian, You were in the right place at the Right time.

I'd love to see a Tesas Marshal or Silver City Marshal at a good price around here these days.
