Checked on your Spencer Carbine serial # 53,507 and the best "guestimate" I can give you is that your Spencer Carbine was issued to a member of Company A, 3rd Kentucky Volunteer Cavalry in November, 1864.  Serial #s higher and lower than your 53,507 were also issued to the same unit . . . so, maybe your Spencer went to the same unit
