How long should a customer expect to wait?

I will tell ya this much:

I have a couple of Duke rigs from El Paso Saddlery from about 25 years ago. They took a real long time comin. When I got the first one it waz perfect. Second belt was wrong colour. Took another long time comin. When I got it it was perfect. I still have and use them. I hear tell their time is still long.

I get most of my leather from RedDog in Kentuckey. He ALWAYS takes less time then he quotes. (usually a week or two. depending on how busy he is. but never longer than a quote)

Now as for the comment made. Ifn you were not rude to him in the first place, he should have never been rude to you. If he expects to continue to do business he should treat customers like my old grammma used to..."the customer is always right..."

I would expect an apology or else move on. There are too many good (no lets say great ) leather men that would appreciate your work.

so in short....what 4Trod said.

I would love to be of help here but after recent events in life I don't think I could come close to the time frame.

Rick is RIGHT 100%! I believe in honor and respect for the customer. Time frames can drag and life can get in the way, but insult is uncalled for.

I've been in sales for 15 years and have never felt the need to insult a customer. Being a good leather crafter is one thing, being a good salesman/Business man is another.

In here the two intertwine quite nicely!! You'll get just what you are looking for with these fine folks!

Best of luck, Amigo!

When I get an order, I generally tell the customer 8 weeks or so, and then explain the part about that it could take longer, and more than likely, could be sooner.
I never take money up front, unless the customer makes me take it. Then I dont necessarily bump the order up to the top, but I do make sure it is done on time. Most of those are modern rigs that dont take too long anyway.

You are sure to get some good gear and customer service at this site, for sure.
