To give a little background on this, first I have 2 of theseVaqueros .45lc .First one I bought brand new first part of the year, second I bought a few weeks later used, it's stainless. They both have the flat headed cylinder base pins.

The problem is after I disassemble and clean. Both come a part and thru help at this site I have learned a few tricks for cleaning them. The stainless model goes back together just fine. However the second one (the new one) Allows me to start the base pin but stops short in the cylinder approx. quarter inch after starting.  If I fuss with it adventually it goes back togeter as long as 15 minutes. I have followed the instructions in the manual but still have problems. Could this be the base pin? It doesn''t look like a issue to change, or is it?

Any one else experiance this or have an ideal? Any thoghts apeariated.

Apply a drop of oil on the base pin before insertion.  Should help. ;)

It's not like it used to be, but it'll do.

The old style Vaq, I had had a somewhat sticky pin too. IIRC, it was a '96 vintage. Seemed to taper off after a couple years use, I also used some Tetra oil on the pin before reinsertion. The NRV I have now doesn't seem to have that problem.......Buck 8) ::) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Check your base pin.  Mine have a cresent shaped cutout on the head of the basepin.  This has to be against the barrel or the base pin will bind up and you'll never get it in.

It is in place to ride along the barrel>>> I had never notice that till this

If that groove on the ejector isn't riding along the barrel it will most definately stop short. First time I took mine apart, I didn't notice it and got the same result.

LTK....I have fixed this I took some emory cloth to it and I also apply a small drop of oil to it now before assembly. Every other cleaning I run a .22 bronze brush thru the center hole in the cylinder. I don't know which one fixed the problem but haven't had much problems lately.
