I know Custer ordered his band to play "Ain't I Glad to Get Out of the Wilderness" after the Washita fight.  From a little bit of "online research" it seems there may be more than one title that refers to this song.  Does anyone have any insight to the period correct lyrics and/or know of anyone that has recorded this song?

Thanks for any help!

After 50 hits, nobody feels the need to pontificate or at least opine on this one?  Come on now!  I know there's a lot of smart people that look at this!

If you google it in quotations some lyrics do come up.
It's a gospel that pre-dates the CW.

One of the set of lyrics would be considered not politically correct.

As to Benteen's letter about playing it after the Washita massacre:

Google is very easy to use.
