Would a 1882 model Swiss Ordnance revolver in 7.5mm Swiss (Basically a 7.5mm Nagant round) be good for GAF? The one I'm looking at was produced between the two WW's, but appears to have not changed all that much in form.

Drydock

I keep thinking of Mills Lane in the claymation "Celebrity Deathmatch"

"I'll allow it!"

The adoption date says it all, and its what we go by.  Great find!

And I got promoted to LtC, Ordnance!

Civilize them with a Krag . . .

She is a beauty Sir, a real gem, and I see some fine Swiss powder in the future for her!

Pony Racer

I have heard that the swiis ord revolvers smooth clock like works really puts the Nagants to shame...

I have seen these time to time but never bit...the prices were never really that bad...

Can you let us know how she shoots?

I have an 1887 Swede Nagant, (95%), & an 1894 mountain carbine (arsenal refurb), Have pictures of the 1890s Swede uniform, need to buy a coat that matches the pictures.

The base for the tunic, would be union cw cavalry frock coat, with some adaptations.

I can relate, Brian.

There is nothing being made today that comes close to reproducing the Swiss military Shako of the 1870's. So I'm just going to go with a German 1910 tunic and NCO cap as the basis for an impression.

Which, by the way, will be based on an alternate history of where the Confederacy won the War Between the States, and in an effort to modernize their military and shun the United States Government, turns towards their new contacts within European militaries for sources.
The C.S.A. agents were very taken with Prussian military precision and snobbery, and the cutting-edge technology of the new Swiss design for a repeating long arm, the Vetterli, that outclassed the current Federal adoption of breach-loading single shot rifles using fixed ammunition.

Shades of Harry Turtledove!!!

RCJ
Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

Guns Garrett

Its rather ironic that you bring up Turtledove, as in his stories based on a CSA victory, it was actually the US who later allied with Germany and the Central Powers, and the CSA allied with Britain.  His descriptions of the "Tredegar" service rifle seem to indicate it was very similar to the S.M.L.E.  The US, of course, had a Mauser copy called the "Springfield".

Sadly, this acquisition will have to be put on the back burner for this year.

A new air conditioner is needed. I did not realize that new units don't take freon anymore, but some environmentally safer substitute, CQ10 or something?

:'(

I don't know if it ever gets hot enough in Nebraska for an A/C to take precedence over a good antique pistol! ::)
