It's been a few years for me, one of the criteria when we bought the house was a nice garden spot.  The soil seems great, I got it roto-tilled this last weekend and Sunday the Grandkids helped me plant some.

I'm going to plant mostly old time things, we have radishes, carrots, beets, peas, green beans, sinache, mustard greens and turnip greens planted so far, plus 4 early tomato plants I've had to cover.  More pictures as we progress, post yours also, we can have fun with this thread.

Waste of time for me.  They either get too much water and everything rots or not enough and they die...or they get too much all at once then it drys up and then they get too much all at once and they split.

I planted an herb garden in a box for the front deck, Will be able to bring it in this fall.  Living healthy ;D

Had the rot problem the year before last with Tomatoes.  My place just doesn't have enough sun to dry out.

Del that's a nice size family garden and you got all the help you'll need.

It will be a late one for us this year.  :(  So it probably won't be one of the better ones.  :(
We usually plant 3 kinds of tomatoes, 4 or more kinds of peppers, 2 kinds of onions, sweet corn and cukes.

Commissioner Gordon (my dad) has 3 garden spots.  He plants the same as me, but also squash, pumpkins, 3 kinds of melons, 2 kinds of potatoes, greenbeans (sometimes), radishes, and has a strawberry patch in one of them.  He will put in about 4 acres of turnips. That is for the cattle to graze, but he give a lot of them away too.

So far just Snow Peas for me.  I put in about 90 plants and they all seem to be coming up.  Gonna be some good eating a ways down the road.

I will definitely do tomatoes once May gets here, and I have been considering planting corn, squash, and pole beans in the "Three Sisters Method" just to say I did.

With that said, this years garden will not be anywhere as elaborate as I have done over the last few years.

My Son is an organic farmer. He puts in an experimental garden each year. He plants a lot of stuff from other dry hot places. I know he's trying Iraqi Eggplant this year, I'm not sure what else but at least 8 kinds of tomatoes?
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

I sed I wouldn't do it again. Yesterday I picked up a nice Beefsteak Tomato plant.   I scrutinized the yard and plobbed it right between some daffies that have started to go dormant. The flower bed there seems to dry out faster and is close to the water spigot, when needed.  Have visions of a 'mater sandwich on gluten free bread, with Duke's fat free.

Black thumb here...I currently have Bell peppers I'm trying to kill
It did OK last year though,  as did my Cherry Tomato's (before it died)

Looks like my 4 tamaters I planted are not going to make it, got some hail Sat and beat them up bad, but at least a tornado didn't pull them up by the roots. ;D

It's early enough still to replant them from plants

Yeah, few have them planted anyway, I only did four that day so the grandkids could help.

I have mustard, collard and turnip greens coming up as well as radish, carrots, peas and lettuce.  The kids will be here when I get home tommorow, we'll plant some more stuff.

My wife and I planted peas, green onions, radishes and a couple of other delicacies.  My Chickens destroyed the whole works ???  I may get a few of the green onions as they may have missed a few of the seeds as they are so small.  I did have a lamb born today though, so that kind of makes up for the " destruction"
