The Berger Sharpshooters, an NCOWS posse, is considering hosting GAF matches on a regular basis.  The ffinal schedule will depend on the level of participation.

Given that the GAF and NCOWS are both committed to historically authentic events with comparable target placement, it would seem that such an arrangement would be benificial to both organizations.

Please post here to indicate your interest in participating in GAF matches hosted by the Sharpshooters.  For more info about us and our facility seewww.bergersharpshooters.com

Cole Bluesteele has contacted me to discuss this after my article in the TSRA magazine on GAF. I will be getting with them in the near future to answer their questions and discuss working GAF shooting into their regular matches and possible hosting some musters.

I had the pleasure to shoot with the Berger Sharpshooters today in Greenville Texas.  Unfortunately Cole was ill and not in attendence.  As everyone was waiting on the possee assignments I addressed them with some information about GAF as well as our shooting classes.  Answered a lot of questions before the start, during the match and after the match.

I was in my 1898 khaki uniform and shot GAF repeater rifle smokeless (1898 Krag rifle and 1896 Colt DA revolver) in the NCOWS Men's 3 gun duelist category.  It was a lot of fun to shoot at this fine facility with great people.  We shot 5 stages and it was really getting hot by the time we were 1/2 way through.  Since I had not shot any of my GAF firearms since the Grand Muster last October, this was a Great warm up for the DOM muster this coming week.  Shot 50 pistol and 55 rifle so I got lots of reloads.  Actually had a good match with only 8 misses, 7 pistol and 1 rifle (forgot to put my rear site up).

After the match I was invited to come back and shoot GAF with them any time.  I'm sure the club will have to make a determination if they want to include GAF shooting at their monthly matches but I don't think they would turn anybody away.  Apparently several people who shoot there that are already GAF members and even some who have uniforms.  Think I've now got a place to shoot GAF in North Central Texas.   ;D

Enjoyed shooting with you today.  It was nice to learn more about GAF, especially the shooting classes.

I plan on shooting a GAF class at our next monthly match.  Ive got a Trapdoor infantry rifle that is quite lonely.

On a "monthly match" level, GAF and NCOWS could easily coexist.  Lots of like minded culture in both organizations.

Howdy Pancho,

Let me know when you want to shoot a GAF class and I will make sure to drive up for the match.  My Trapdoor is lonely as well!

I realize Camp Pitspiter is a very unique range, but be sure to check out the video from the Dept of the Missouri Muster:

Also if you haven't already be sure to check out the DOMM 2012 thread in the After Action Reports part of the Barracks.

Hi Capt. Mac
I need to do some shootin with my trapdoor also, had it a couple years and not even fired it.  Maybe we all 3 could shoot trapdoors together at the same upcoming match.  Had wanted to this last weekend but did not make it happen.

I had my Trapdoor at the Range but did not shoot it.  When I took it to the range for its first outing it was shooting about 2 feet to the left.  Moved the sights a little but......
