Here's a Johnny Ringo with antiqued hardware. In the sunlight it has a nice chocolatey brownish tint to it.

I love Will`s patterns. I have done a few.

DarbyFett

I feel bad posting this here, tainting up all these beautiful pieces. There are 50 things wrong with it, but I haven't been doing much leatherwork recently. I really need to work on applying dye.

Chuck 100 yd

DarbyFett , Hay that looks just fine. I like my working rigs on the simple side ,
and those dolled up ones are just for lookin and wall hangin.  ;)

DarbyFett

Thank you Chuck! My only real problem is the stitches don't sit into the groove, I think the thread I'm using is too thick. And I usually put a groove a long the opening but just plain for got this time and it really stands out to me. But that's just cause I put one on every holster I do.

Massive

I would like to add a 5-6 oz lining on a hog, or possibly add a 6 oz lining to Flames holster, which has a pigskin lining already.  What kind of impact would that kind of change have on the pattern.

will ghormley

Hey Massive,

You would have to fold a paper holster pattern in half.  Then, cut it along the fold line.  I haven't added a liner that heavy, but my guess would be to add about 3/8" between the two halves.  Then, add 3/8" to each edge where the main stem is sewn.  That would throw the spacing between the tooling pattern and the edge of the leather off.  Visually, this could be compensated for by moving the border of the tooling in 3/8" at the top and bottom.

Like I said, I haven't added a liner that heavy to the HOG pattern, but that should get you close.  It may need to be wet fitted to compensate in case it is a little tight.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Will!  First thing I am going to do is study some of the patterns of yours I have and see how the lined and unlined ones compare.  I have the hog pattern on CAD, so I can stretch it, and I can resize the drawing.  I don't mind having to do one just to work kinks out in the pattern.
