If this isn't in the right category, please feel free to move it where it belongs.

Being totally new to CAS, I'd like to ask the lady shooters out there what do you wear to the shoots?  Our first shoot will be on the 14th and I have only one outfit made to wear so far, but want to get some other ideas to work from.  Hubby has a lot of clothes so far and I feel kinda left out.  I would eventually like to have a split riding skirt (I do ride too... ;D).  What do you wear for footwear with that?

Thanks in advance to those who are willing to share their photos!

I have done some study on this myself. There is a formal"riding habit" that had an extra long tail to the skirt to cover the legs when riding , and also came with long trousers.  The trousers were never worn alone.   The best outfit I  can come up with that you might like to go with that was made for women for riding horses was reference to the "Yosemite suite". An article written about travel across America by train by a lady reporter described how the ladies in early tourist trips to Yosemite had to ride astride.  They could by a "Yosemite suite" at  a nearby store.  It was a split skirt.  Also some of the early visitors wore,"Bloomers" .  There is a picture at the Yosemite National Park website under," Women of Yosemite Park" of the Sweet Sisters and friend taken by their brother that is dated to the correct time.  Also look at bycicle suites.  The one of Lady Harburton (attached) is fairly well known. These are not men's clothing, they were designed for women. Celeste

I guess I should clarify that I'm not necessarily looking for "riding attire".  I just like the look of the split skirt and would like to have one in my CAS wardrobe.  My first (and only at this point) is a "Ma Ingalls" dress (floor length, full skirt, fitted bodice) of blue calico that looks like it might have been around at that time in history.  I also made a sunbonnet to go with it.  I just was interested to see what other things the ladies were wearing.  Thanks for the links guys, I'll take a look at them hopefully tomorrow when I have a little more time.

There really isn't an easy way to answer your question which is why I linked to all the pictures.  They wear everything and anything although some of it depends on category because some categories require certain items of clothing and styles of leather.

A western shirt, boots, jeans and a hat is accountable and many shoot like that.  Saloon girls are popular and I have seen some women shoot in full Victorian dress with all the proper accouterments and under garments included.  Native American wear, leather, fringes and beads is also appropriate.

Nikes, ball caps, shorts and a T-Shirt won't work.   ;D

Wow;  I went back to my link and then to the Mary Edward Walker picture page.  They tried to tell me I won an iPad!  Silly people!

That is kinda what I was looking for...I have a pattern for an 1888 travelling suit that is eventually going to be part of my wardrobe, that will probably be for special occasions or something.  Has the bustle and the whole bit.  I don't think it will include all the appropriate undergarments though, that would just be overkill (and hopefully no one would be seing that anyway...and it would be WAY hot in the summer!)  Just wondering what that will look like with my rig...LOL

hmmm wonder how acceptable became accountable

Damn spell check ;D
