The first of two 2011 Illinois State Musters will be held on 29 April 2012 at the Good Guys Posse Dry Gulch Ranch located near Rockford, Illinois. The second muster will be held on 30 September 2012.

In the morning we will shoot five stages that will follow the theme: Heroes of the 7th Cavalry .

We will have lunch and in the afternoon shoot three "Wild Bunch" Stages, bring your 1911's, pistol caliber lever action rifles and '97 shotguns.

Gun carts will be allowed at this muster because there are no provisions for stacking firearms. Hearing protection and side shields/wrap around safety glasses are required for anyone on the range. SASS safety rules will apply. The muster is shot with a rifle and one pistol. Bring a second revolver, because it will be required for one stage. Pistols will be shot "dualist." Uniforms not required. Categories based on GAF Battle rifle standards.

Pre-registration isn't required but appreciated by the Mess Sergeant (Mrs. Shamrock) so she can determine the amount of food she needs for the noon mess(lunch).

Registration at 0800 – Safety Meeting at 0845 – Muster begins at 0900 – Lunch at 1230 – Wild Bunch Stages at 1300

29th April I will be at Camp Courageous of Iowa as part of a train robbery reenactment. I should be able to attend the September muster. My GAF engagements will be limited this year. Iowa GAF, I am at NCOWS Nationals. Dept of Missouri Muster, can't get time off. Hoping for Illinois ini Sept, & National. Will need to see when the Missouri Muster is held.

Many thanks to Col. Shamrock for a very fine shoot. I really enjoyed the history lesson. Didn't know there there were 24 Medal of Honor winners at the Little Bighorn.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself
