After having fired several hundreds of rounds and again today having my gun fail on me I think I found the problem. It seems that the distance between the rear face of the cylinder and the frame is a little too close. I've never had this happen on a Single Action before so wasn't looking for it. I saw that the space seemed rather small then checked the case heads, there are rub marking on the case. The marks aren't deep or very big but each fired case showed then distinctly. The 'smith where I bought it will check it and if need be return it to the maker/importer. I'll post when I hear something.

What is the "end play" . . . ie. distance between the front of the cylinder and the barrel ?    Also . . some brands of brass have very slightly thicker rims that others.  Take that into account if you've been using several different brands of brass.  Or even different manufactur lots of the same brand of brass.
Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

I've tried several brands of brass and factory ammo. I didn't mess with it much it's under warranty and I'm going to let them take care of it.

I had the same problem with my Uberti 1875.  What I did is take out the cylinder, get some metal sandpaper and take off some of the metal from the small pice that sticks out in front of the cylinder.  I took it out a small amount at a time and checked the spacing with some fired cases until it did not rub anymore.  Of course I had to be very careful and it seems to work ok for me now with no hangups.  Hope my post makes sense.

On mine the firing pin hole started to peen forward after a while leaving a drag mark on the primer and cases. No sweat, I just took some diamond paper and polished the hole until it was smooth to the touch. You might check yours for this. Just remove the cylinder, cock it, and feel if the hole is smooth or catches your flesh on your finger. Good luck

This seems to be a nearly universal problem with the '75. Everyone with this problem needs, in some way or another, contact both the importers and makes and complain. I know at least one guy who just gave up, took a loss on the guns and went to a different type. We should not have to put up with this.

I am getting a bit worried about this problem even thought I fixed mine.  I may just buy a second 1873 Colt clone and use the 1875 as a backup.

I hope to retire from my current job before the end of May. If I do I hope to buy a third Colt. Right now I own 2 Colt's, 1 Colt Clone and the '75. The '75 is a great shooter and I really hope this problem gets fixed.

Sorry guys I'm new here but are you guys talkin about Uberti black powder 75's or the 45Lc versions? Sorry the 75 45LC is the one I'm planning on getting next month. Research led me here and I see alot of 75 issues. Thanks

I think you are getting mixed up between the Remington 58's and the 75's.  The 58's are percussion, the 75's cartridge.  They both are from the black powder era.

Meh, probably am getting them mixed up. I'm just trying to find honest opinions on the Uberti 1875 Outlaws I guess. I got to hold one a few months ago and not since I put a 1911 in my hand for the first time has a gun really made that kind of impression on me. I just want to make sure they are gtg for the most part.

These are the gunz and holsters I won from Happy Trails a couple of years ago. They have been fine shooters from day one. Old Top has a pair of 75s and one of his had the spacing problem discussed. We took it down to EMF and their gunny smoothed the face and test fired it while we waited.

After having Happy Trails fix my pair of 44-40 1875s they can shoot BP all day.  Before,  could not get past 4 rounds!
Now my only problem is hand springs.  They constantly break.  I thnk each has been replaced at least six times.  This problem has been on-going since day-1.

Nice 75's Cole! And thanks for the info guys..I still think I'll get one next month if I do I'll throw a pic up. I don't really have any matches in my part of the state of MO but I will still enjoy the heck out of shooting it. Plan on shooting mostly winchester silver tips though I know I'll get some cowboy loads as well.

Howdy All,

Maybe somebody can help me find an early model 1875 Army (Uberti Remington) in 44-40, 71/2" barrel, case hardened, with the bead or pinched front site and the lanyard ring beneath the grips. Uberti has stopped making this except in Nickel which I don't want. Without the lanyard ring is OK but I'd rather have one.

Thanks Pards

What part of the state are you in? There's several clubs around, unless you're way up north of the Missouri river, or maybe in the bootheel area.
