Howdy y'all,
As you see I be new to the forum. Found the place searchin for info on '76s, BROWs and all the other cool old western type firearms. Looks like a kewl place and have found some very interesting and helpful information here.

My buddy and I have both recently purchased Uberti 1876 rifles as well as Pedersoli and C. Sharps 1874 rifles (45-70s). His 76 is in 45-60 and mine in 50-95. We've been playin with some loads and I thought I might share the info. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! We've had zero problems so far and the loads are fun and show no signs of pressure.

First, we have no nearby source of BP. Sooooo we elected to use Shocky's Gold. Awesome!!! Lots of smoke, no pressure signs and we are getting the BP velocities. Easy to clean up after also. We're compressing the loads just slightly. The 50-95 held about 75 grains by measure. I think it weighed 80 grs. Velocities were 1450 fps -1550 fps. I'll back this one off just a little.

Also loaded the 50 with 26.5 gr of 5744. Velocities were maybe a little light. 1150 fps - 1180 fps (very consistent). - Buffalo Arms 350 gr mould, WW alloy as cast. I'm gonna increase this one a little bit probably to 27.5 - 28 grns.

Was shooting the Montana Precision 300 grain boolits until I purchased the mould for the heavier 350 grn projectile. Velocities with 30 - 33 grns of 5744 put the speeds in the mid 1300 fps - 1400 fps range.

Bertram Brass was all I used. I do have some Jamison on the way.

I do not have his 45-60 data at hand or I'd be glad to share that also.

We didn't shoot any groups just minute of gong at 200 yards.

Anyway, I like this forum and am happy to contribute in any way I can.
Thanks everyone!

Welcome, Tex.  Glad to have you aboard! :)  I also use the Shocky's Gold and have been very pleased with it - especially the clean up part! ;D
