Howdy Willy,

Take a gander at the DD-PUK FLAT.  It has a dual rebate base that will accommodate your 1875 gun.  Drawing attached.

Dick, does it hold more lube than either the JP200 or PRS45?

Thanks

I'm not DD but I doubt that it holds more.

My Remington 1875 doesn't tolerate BP as well as my Colts.  That said, I only have to do the Moosemilk spritz thing, but I don't mind the gun getting slick.  I carry a rag.  It's pretty simple, pard.  And wood grips, oiled not varnished will help keep hold of your pistol.   But the rag is #1.  It takes a bit of getting used to, perhaps.  I certainly understand about not wanting your gun to drip goo and be so slippery that you feel you might drop it!

As for my Remington NMA 1858/(1863) I do the powder, ball, grease thing, or if I have plenty, then powder, lubed wad, (it helps scrape the  previous shot's fouling out of the barrel  as it travels downrange) ball and sometimes grease method.

Plus, I often wear dark clothes so some stain adds to the character.  People at most NCOWS & SASS match look like they've dressed for the first day of school!  I have artificially aged some of my clothes with various stains just so I look like an everyday REAL person, not someone right out of the Outfitter's store or General Store or Tack Shop.

But that's me.  Not everyone likes the rode hard-put away wet look.

I don't know why, but my clothes seem to age in minutes when I shoot the holy black....not really sure who's at fault ;) ::)

Pre-made wads are expensive, but if you cut the wads yourself from sheets of felt, they're super-cheap. Just punch em out, soak them in your lube of choice, let em stiffen up, and you're ready to roll. All for a 1/100th the cost of Wonder Wads.

That sounds lots cheaper than commercial wonder wads. My system is pretty simple, though. Used to mess with horses some, so I saved some of the tubes worm medicine comes in. Like a big syringe, with about a 1/4 inch spout. Just fill up a couple in the morning, it's more than enough for a match. Carry a couple of grease rags for when the gun gets messy.

That's a good looking bullet. Can you get them for a 36?

OK shot the gun for the first time yesterday. Had a lot of trouble getting the caps on. I seam to remember the guy telling me I needed number 11's and then sold me 10's. The caps are supposed to be a firm fit but not a really tight fit right.
