OT-Gas Prices

Howdy,

It's an interesting situation as the price increase has little to do with current shortages but with potential future shortages.  The information age has changed the law of supply and demand.  Forecasting is a major part of that equation now.  Furthermore, there are so many political entanglements that finding real information is getting harder and harder as those who have a vested interest in supporting a postion will create or deny facts in order to sway public opinion their way.

I do not agree with throwing out the environmental protections without regard for their effectiveness and the delicacy of the area they are protecting.  Certainly we should investigate all potential forms of energy.  But I would suggest that we need a more comprehensive reform of our business climate to ensure a fair treatment of both companies and customers.  If we look at gas as the blood of the economy, treating our economy for high blood pressure does little long term good, if the remaining body parts are left untreated and allowed to continue their decline.

Once, this country was a place of dynamic decisions and actions.  Certainly, mistakes were made... but the proper response to an error, even a critical one is contemplation, correction and forgiveness.  Not harping and backtracking.  Finish the job!  and then move on.

Adios,

Thank you for being you.. Annie Lee!

Incentives for new refinerys would help in the future, that's the main problem here. No new ones in 20-30 years, some oldies shut down. Now 40% of what we do have off line, there's the problem.
Huge profits, no new construction. Happened with a lot of the railroads, they didn't put money back into their infrastructure and consequently just fell apart..............Buck 8) ::) :-\

I heard on the news last night that it is illegal to raise the fuel price at a station more than once in a 24 hour period. Also, it is illegal to change the price when people are waiting in line to fuel up. This may be only for Wisconsin, though.

Low grade regular gasoline is $3.199. Diesel is $2.959. I fueled up with diesel on Tuesday night for $2.599. Gas was $2.659. >:(

Yes fuel prices got us down.  I parked the big truck and only take it out to pull the travel trailer on the weekends. (9 mpg)  I'm driving around in my old 84 Bronco II back and forth to work and what not..... 20mpg.  But not near the comfort or style.

Things will get worse before they get better.  Someone sure is making their money from us on this go around.

But conserve as we might we will still be buying the stuff.

I remember my dad cutting up his Gulf credit card when premium got to .32 cents a gallon saying "They got to be crazy, we can't afford that".

Is this the year I took out a 10 year loan on a new travel trailer??  I guess it is.................July 25th, so I guess the gas increase is all my fault..............sorry everyone.........

Shame on you Michael Fortune for raising our gas prices. I had to go out today. One local gas station was selling regular for 3.59.9, while the rest nearby were selling it for 2.99.9. What surprised me was that folks were buying the higher priced gas even though the other stations were only a block away. Go figure.

The gas pipeline companies serving the North Georgia area will be back in full delivery this weekend. The problem was the power went out to their pumps in Mississippi, so they could not pump the product through the pipelines. There's plenty of gas in the storage tanks, huge ones I might add, but they couldn't send it anywhere. That was corrected temporarilly by using generators, but the full power will be back on soon.

To help with the higher gas prices, Gov Purdue just announced he was requesting the suspension of Georgia GAS and SALES tax on gasoline through the end of September. That would save consumers 15 cents a gallon, if the station owners don't try to pocket the extra money themselves. They will be arrested if they do.

The money ain't a problem.  I got money.  Whut worries me is whether or not the gas stations will have it ta sell.

Now that Pungos gone, I ain't got a place ta shoot that's closer than seventy five miles away.  That's a long walk pushin' a gun cart.

Well, for me its 30 miles one way to the Doc Holiday's Immortals, match at my gun club and 17 to the Mule Camp Cowboys match. I guess I'm pretty lucky in that both are fairly close by. I sure wouldn't want to have to pay the gas bill for one of those big motor homes going to a match far away.

MM, that's not too bad for an 8. I've got an F-150 with the 4.2 V-6, it's the extended cab, but with the short bed. Gets 18.5-19 around town( at least as I drive it) and almost 25 on the road. A good cover on the bed helps some with the mileage. Also, I've treated the engine with Slick 50 and have the Bosch+4 plugs in it now. I keep the tires aired up to their max listing as well.
With the EPA stuff on them, it's kinda hard to get them to breathe easy, like a good dual exhaust would do for them. Just a few tricks from my motorhead days that have gained me some extra miles per.
Only thing I can't get by  is that 25 gal. tank, took $61 to fill it Thurs...........Buck

It's finally happened!  There are several stations in the Seattle area where gas is $3.00+ a gallon!

Apparently the Governor's order is having some effect in Georgia. Gas prices at aa lot of stations I drove by today were at 2.84.9 a gallon. The State Revenue Dept had agents visiting stations in the Atlanta area to make sure they weren't over charging customers. This action may just work.
