Pards, the blood banks are shut down & 45 New Orleans area hospitals are running out of blood. If you can, please go to your nearest blood bank and donate a pint & tell them it's for La. or Miss. or Ala.

I would love to donate a pint, but I can't do that.  While serving in Vietnam I contracted Dengue Feaver which is a mild form of Malaria.  I was told that I wouldn't have any more outbreaks of it, but I cannot donate blood because that virus is still in my system.  If someone were to receive my blood and they had never had Dengue Feaver...they would get it and that's not where they want to be.
