I thought adjustables (eg. Blackhawks) forced you into a different category (modern?) but I recently heard that had changed and they are fine in the traditional class... I realize they are not period accurate...

Can someone pls confirm?  Its it age specific or ok across the board or not ok across the board?

I'm looking to move from 45C to 38 and just wondering if Blackhawks are an option our if I need to stick to Vaqueros...

Thx, Scott

There is no such thing as Traditional and Modern categories any more, they changed that years ago. Adjustable sights are approved for all aged based categories and B-Western. All other categories require fixed sights. Good Luck :)

There is not a traditional class anymore nor is there a modern one.   Adjustable sites can be used in any of the age based categories as well as Cowboy and Cowgirl.

That was a determining factor in my getting involved. I already owned one Blackhawk, and it was cheaper to buy another BH, than 2 Vaqueros. The money I saved, paid for my shotgun, and partially for my rifle. ;D

You got the info for SASS shooting.  Other groups such as NCOWS, GAF do not allow the adjustable sight Blackhawks.  So be sure which rules your club goes by.  Most clubs out there use SASS rules but there are others.

I assumed since he asked about the modern and traditional class and was referencing SASS rules that he was asking about SASS rules. ;)

I figgured the same.  but I thought I would put the info out there for other possible non-sass cowboys that might be reading.
