There is now a mobile version of the NCOWS web site available. Its main feature is highlighting NCOWS Events, and furnishing a readily accessible map to things like the Convention, National Shoot, and monthly posse shoots and activities.

The mobile site is set up to be viewed on mobile devices like smartphones, iPods, etc.

It can be viewed on a PC if you are using Mozilla Firefox, or Safari as your browser. Internet Explorer only shows a white screen.

Roger, I think my smartphone is suffering from lack of operator headspace. I've got an Apple 3GS smartphone and I can't access the NCOWS mobile site.

For those having trouble viewing the mobile site I've put together a sample. The mobile site is a very streamlined version. Having upgraded to a nice but inexpensive smartphone last week, I tried viewing NCOWS.org with it, but kept getting a "Not enough memory" notice with the native browser on the phone (the lack of memory was in the browser which will only load pages under 10kb). After some research I ended up downloading Opera Mini 4.4 which allowed me to view the site. I wasn't all that impressed with what I saw.

The number of people accessing the internet via mobile devices is growing rapidly. As I read up on putting together a mobile "app" one source stated that the number of people who access the internet with mobile devices has grown by an average of 148% per year for the last three years.

It also occurred to me that many people today take phones with them everywhere including to shoots. So having a mobile site with interactive maps to NCOWS events would be pretty handy for folks on their way to an event location for the first time. That is how the mobile version is set up. There is a Welcome screen, a Convention section, a Nationals section, and a Calendar section which lists events occurring in the current month and following month. After the Convention concludes the section will be converted over to Regional Shoots.
