Hello The Camp
Last night I stayed up way later than I should watching all the little extras on my copy of the latest version of                 3:10 to Yuma trying to find out how they decided to use the firearms they used- no joy.  Does anyone on this board have a clue?  On the same note, what kind of rifle was the outlaw sniper using?

This site might help http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/3:10_to_Yuma_(2007) they also list an earlier version of the movie as well as about all the guns used in most movies.

Hi Joec,

Thanks for the link. I went to it and found the Spencer listing:

http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Spencer_1860_Carbine
and
http://www.imfdb.org/wiki/Spencer_1882  but, the list is not that complete; needs to be updated.

This is the rifle with the scope that the OP was I think asking about.

thanks to all- it would be neat to find out why the armorers for this movie picked the weapons they did.  I wish the spencer had been used more.

If I am not mistaken, the revolving rifles used in 3:10 to Yuma were reproductions made by Palmetto Arms. Two of them were used in the movie. Both were outfitted with scopes and had custom cylinder conversions that utilized 45-70 cartridges. This was done, apparently, in order to make loading blanks faster. I remember reading an article about the rifles online somewhere, but cannot now find it.
