Yesterday we had an informal CAS match of four stages and I got to shoot my Schofield. My trigger job just flat rocked! It was one of the fastest pistols there. I opened with it as a rifle substitute and was struggling at the plate rack, but I hadn't fired any 158's in practice and the POI was different. So I adjusted the POA lower and all was good. They gun points so well that speed shooting is just as fast as the rifle in the experienced shooters hands even having to reset the trigger. I felt like I could have taken on Jesse James and Charlie Prince at once and won.  I wish I had three more of them, but I'd stick the the .45 next time. Much more fun on knockdowns.

Glad to hear that.  Thanks for the PM on the how to of your trigger job.  I've been looking at my cutaway diagrams and comparing them to your descriptions.  When I get a few more things out of the way I will round up the tools and give it a try.

Very Cool. I strongly urge you to be careful and cautious. I can send you pics if you like so you can see what is before you get in over your head.

Did you shoot the whole match with just the Schofield?

I used the Schofield as a rifle substitute.  The other pistols were vaqueros and a Bisley-vaquero for the other half rifle. I could have done some reloads on the clock I suppose, but it would have killed my stage time. As it was I still placed well overall for never having done it before. 6/9.

Hi,

I know what you mean ... I would not trade my Schofields for any Colt or Clone ... maybe Wells Fargo model with a shorter barrel ...
maybe ...

My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...

Please do not send me requests for information on how to do trigger jobs. Sadly I have lost the pictures and the recollection has faded to the point where I cannot be of help.
