Recently took posession of an Italian-made 1860 Army model. The pistol had belonged to my father who passed several years ago and hat sat in a box in my brother's garage since then, I'm having difficulty identifying the manufacturer, proof marks are clear as is the wording ".44 cal Black Powder Only Made in Italy" stamped on the underside of the barrel. Just to the right ( nearest the cylinder) is an unclear stamp of a symbol, the cloest approximation of which appears to be the lower 1/3 of the Uberti logo. I've tried taking pics of this mark from several different angles but none are clear enough to warrant posting here. I've attached two clear side shots in the hopes one/some of you folks may be able to ID.

It would help if you could get some images of the roll engraving on the cylinder.  You may be able to get these by wrapping them in some thin paper and doing a rubbing.  Then, you can scan the rubbings to make post-able images.  This method may also help you to get images of the proof marks.

The images of the guns are fairly good, but the critical details are not clear enough for me to make a determination.

Hang in there.

Looks like Uberti finish on the grips but the pics are just too small to see any markings.........
Is the hammer checkered or serrated?

The Uberti logo is the end of a barrel with rifling and a U in the middle.

Look under the rammer on the barrel also for marks. Euroarms guns are often stamped with a DGG overlapping letters inside a circle under the barrel. The Uberti logo is an octagonal muzzle with a "U" inside the bore. SM or ASM would indicate Armi San Marco. The Uberti has more room under the rammer for loading conicals. I just remember years ago having no trouble loading the 200gr LEE conicals into my Uberti 1860, and only a little bit of jiggleng to load the ASM but the Pietta had not enough metal removed from under the barrel to let anything but a ball to be loaded.

Could it be an intertwined DGG in a circle marking?????  That would be Armi San Paolo (Euroarms)

Thanks all.

The hammer is checkered.

Proofmarks are clear, I used this as a reference guide https://store.bluebookinc.com/Info/PDF/POWDER/MBPProofmarks.pdf to determine year of manufacture BF = 1995 and the two standardized proof marks. The illegible symbol appears only on the underside of the barrel, under the rammer. Based upon what I can see of the symbol, it looks most like the lowest 1/3 of the Uberti logo but I'm not sure. I'm sure this is blasphemy to you folks, but my motivation for determining the specific manufacturer is so that I can swap in a conversion cylinder. Without knowing for certain, I've been reluctant to buy the cylinder. Any additional thoughts?

If the mark has a rounded edge it is not likely an Uberti which has an octagon shape to the outermost margin. I'm not sure anyone makes an Euroarms conversion cylinder. I do know that a Remington Uberti cylinder will interchange with an Euroarms one but with a slightly wider cylinder gap.

Get hold of Jay Strite at Raven's Roost.  He fits Kirst Konverter cylinders and does a good job of it.  Jay will treat you right.  He will be able to fit the correct cylinder to your gun and the price will be fair.

I've got a mid-90's Uberti Patterson and the logo is much the same, except it is all there but the lower 1/3 or so is much deeper than the rest.
