Hi SS, Whytey if I may,

How is the grain volume adjusted on that gadget?

Very similar to a Dillon, except you have to pull the trigger all they way to expose the knurled knob. Then turn it to increase or decrease the charge. Funny, the last time someone called me whitey I was still working in the County Jail and I had to write them up for it as no racial comments were allowed! Obviously it was an inmate, this one from Oakland.

Thanks SS

BTW the rig you made me works fine, though I turned the belt around so the shotshells are up front..... and I am called Whytey by all my workmates. ;)

The Quenitics buller puller hammer is the best on the market bar none! I have had one in constant use since 1991! Brilliant. If you could add a drop tube to the measure it might work.
All my cowboy gun's calibres start with a 4! It's gotta be big bore and whomp some!

Would something like a short piece of Ice make tube work for that?

Oh, wheeze! gasp! hiccup!

He's loading directly from the flask into the chambers. Run for the hills and protect the children. He's gonna blow up the known world. We'll get OSHA in on this! :o...

Personally, I do not approve of this except for an initial loading as you NEVER load directly from any type of flask. One ember still smoking and goodbye hands! I know a fella who saw this happen to a guy loading a ML directly from a flask. He lost his entire hand.  ;)

The term ML is meaningless.   Was it a rifle, shotgun or revolver?

Civil War style rifled musket. Forgive me if I don't have the serial number.  ;)

Pettifogger

Thanks.  I wouldn't try a quick reload on a rifled musket from the flask either.  However, a revolver chamber is smooth, has a lot less surface area and there is considerable time between firing and recharging at a SASS match.  I have only seen one guy that didn't load from a flask and the way he did it made me real nervous.

Not as elegant as Pettifoggers but.....

The main feature that I like is the ability to see the powder as it drops.  With a conventional flask and
funnel I have had a lump of powder plug the flask nipple resulting in an empty chamber and misfire.

That's neat.  Did you make it?

Colt Fanning

Yes,
The top and bottom are a strip of 1/8 x 1 in. brass strip bent into a  "U" shape.  The ram is 1/2 in Aluminum plate
with a hole in the end to meter 15 grns of powder.  The "U" shaped strip was clamped together on the ram as the sides were
soldered on to get a tight fit. The funnel is made from a 30-06 case soldered to the bottom and the reservoir is a small
CVA power measure with the metering parts removed soldered to the top.  Finally the slots were cut in the sides for a pin
to move the ram.

I have never found it to be a hardship to look into the cylinder and see the powder in there. Also when I flip the flask over I make sure the measure is filled to the top. All this kinda seems like an answer to a non-existant problem. IMHO

Howdy,
I shoot cap&ball at two locations, my local shooting range and the NCOWS shoots.  The local range has cover over
the benches so that there is no direct light from overhead.  At the NCOWS match when it is windy (usually), instead
of reloading at the unloading table I go inside one of the unused stages where there is also no direct light.
In short, I can't see down into the chambers without taking the gun from under the covered area.
