This is posted on that "other" wire.  Interesting and another great idea from the Brits.  He couldn't find anybody to manufacture it.  It is kind of neat.

Paladin - ain't that gospel truth!  I started doing waterfowl swap hunts with some Brits in 2000.  All my trips over there, ZERO goose or duck decoys!  When the boys came to the US, we went to Cabales and they went back with 2 dozen snow goose decoys and at home repainted them as gray leg & pink footed geese ... bag limits increased substantially!  So Kevin started the one and only waterfowl decoy business in the UK ordering decoys from the US and it is prosperous ... http://www.tidepool.co.uk/

WOW! I want one of those! It was interesting watching him load as well, he was very efficient in his loading procedure, I normally only ever load five, he got twelve away in probably less time than it takes me to get my 5 downrange! I gotta have a good look at my crappy (but safe) reloading procedures.

If you ever find a person who will make them, please put me down for one!

I can't tell how one measures the loads; does it use a separate 'filller' for each size?

After watching that video about 20 times and measuring and remeasuring I came up with this.  All I will say is it isn't as simple as it looks and I think this will be the first and last.

Just don't latch on to his capping habits.

Imagine what his hand would look like if a cap went off with part of his hand forward of the cylinder. We all know it can happen.

He is rushing to show how fast he can reload, but some things need to err on the side of safety rather than speed.

That shooter could have saved himself considerable time by loading Big Lube®LLC lube/sized bullets.  The EPP-UG and DD-ROA Flat are two examples.  No over ball mess is needed since the lube is in the grove.

(Note to PUK, the name change on the former DD/PUK/ROA-II was made because of space considerations in machining the name.  No offense meant.  Your name remains in the info sheet that accompanies each mold.)

My first thought when I spotted this was whether or not the guy could do it up as a set of plans.  Come on Pettifogger, do one more as a how'to photo essay, with parts list, and you can give that extra one to me when you are finished.  ;D  One more thought, does yours convert easily between the .44 and .36 calibers?

Didn't do a whole lot of work, but some preliminary measurements showed it is not likely to work with a .36.  The cylinder is just to small to get the measure up close enough for it to work.

I was watching that, I've already lost a finger (as you are no doubt aware, lol), so I'm reallllllllllllllllllllll careful with it. It was mainly the way he left the handle down, whilst charging the next cylinder and fitting a ball. That seemed to make quiet a difference. Point I was trying to make is that I am obviously wasting a lot of time and need to do a time and motion study, lol.

Well I hate to see a good idea die with this thread but fear thats what will happen.  Pettifogger, could you summarize your parts list and add any thoughts for those of us who might try to mimic your results?

Neat design. Too bad it's too complex for production. I'd like to have one. :-\

This has already been done. I have a version of this that I have had for 20-something years. Made of plastic, though.

Very few completely new things under the sun.  I remember those and still see them once in a while at gun shows.  Made for charging cases in a loading block.  Won't work on a C&B because of the extension past the down spout.

Springfield Slim

Seems to me you should be able to add most any size extension you want on there, even a flexible one. Make it removable, one for 44 and one for 36 caliber guns.

Look at your picture.  I'm talking about the piece on the right hand side that extends past the downspout.  That keeps it from fitting a C&B.  The slide moves in that part and that is part of the challenge of building one for a C&B.

Springfield Slim

Sorry, not seeing the problem at all. Add a small brass extension in the caliber of choice, angle the powder measure a bit and load just like a powder flask. It also appears these are still being made. http://www.quineticscorp.com/Powder_measure.asp
