Hello SSS,

Really nice looking Spencer Carbine on GunBroker.com.  It has an add-on rear brass sight on the top of the receiver that I am curious about.  It appears too low for sighting over the rear sight.  Check out my photos and tell me what you think.

I copied photos of the add-on rear sight to show it as best I can, but the rest of the Spencer looks terrific, although the seller doesn't include any additional information about the mechanics.  He is located in Maine . . . too close to me ::) ::)

Maybe the original rear sight was removed to use the new brass sight and before he put it up for auction someone replaced the original rear sight to make it look better.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a handsome, and well preserved body; but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming...."WOW!... What a ride!"

I agree with Major, probably removed the screw from origional and left the base.
