This video explains the various Remington cartridge conversion systems currently on the market. The information might be too basic for most of you, but some new comers might find it useful.

For Dick Dastardly, here's a link to the video

Thanks Mike, very informative, it helped me see how the conversions work.

I have to admit that this isn't the most exciting video I've ever done, but I get a lot of questions about the different systems.

Knowledge is its own style of excitement and I always get excited when I learn something new.

Great video Mike! I have the taylor's in .44-40 like you do. I was under the impression that a percussion cylinder could be used if the conversion plate was removed (I could very well be very wrong here...)? Being that it is .44-40 it would be hard to find a cylinder that would accommodate .427-.429 sized lead ball.

The reason I ask, is that it had been advertised somewhere that to conversions came with both cylinders.

Don't worry... I am not going to go out and buy a percussion cylinder. Just curious. I find your videos very informative BTW.

All the best in the New Year!

Howdy Mike,

I'd like to start by saying how much I have enjoyed your videos, especially the Henry, Spencer and '73 Winchester. My question is one that was asked of me and I had no answer to give; are converting the percussion pistols to cartridge legal? Back in my law enforcement days, and more importantly if I knew nothing of such things, and came across such a firearm, and the person told me he bought it by mail order and converted it to cartridge, I would have tended to confiscate and arrest; let the District Attorney deal with the legality. Again, you have my admiration and gratitude for your videos. ;)
