I just watched an Arvo Ojala rig that was dressed out with the Paladin knight sell for 550 on an online auction..
Anyone else see it?

Made by Arvo Ohala, like havin one made by Kid Terico!! If you have the Dirctors cut of Silverado you will see Arvo last apearance i believe,he was the gun coach and leather maker for the movie...He is also one of the guys Matt Dillon shoots at the beginning of GunSmoke and actually outdraws Matt...

Yep, just a big name maker from the 50s.
They didnt have a pic on the online catalog, and when the rig came through the auction, they had a live pic. It had a start pre-bid of 400 on it. Nothing was mentioned about Paladin during the auction, as they just sold it as an Arvo rig.
It looked good though.

That guy that has the leather tools and bench had a black rig down there also and i swear it's an Arvo rig,but i can find no makers mark it's probably an old fast draw holster as it is very rigid.

Dalton,

I have a contact here in Tenn.......the wife of one of my fellow shooters makes custom 99.9% silver jewelry and after the first of the year I will try to get together with her and get a 'Paladin" knight horse made up in pure silver....the original was sterling silver.

Take a look at her website...she picks up the bullets that have been flattened out by the steel plates and makes silver jewelry from them.       "Bulletsplat Jewlery"

I have an old black rig with a knight horse on it,it is cracked across the center but still together in case she needs something for a mold ;D It's not an Arvo rig but a gal at the antique store gave it to me cuase she was quittin.

And that gal makes some very cool jewelry i go to that site and look once and awhile, wanted to get something for my EX son in law ;D

Rick,
That one was almost a dead ringer for the one you have.

KT, close, but no loop. Good stuff though! And Happy Birthday.

Dalton I have to ask whats wrong with this reproduction? Copied a origional pict. I had it done years back. Was very costly. At the time I was going to get one from Alfonsi,s and he was out so I had this made from this Pict. Later on I got one from Alfonso,s also .This a Alfonso, rig.KT

I have contacted all the people I can think of that make "Paladin" rigs and none will sell the silver horse separately.....so I will get my own made....The chess knight used on the paladin holster is a "Staunton style" and as soon as I find a chess knight piece that is a copy I will have a mold made....and Becky can make the horse for me

KT you are right, that is the only knight horse i was ever aware of until i saw mine and i figured it was just a cheap copy or something..

This is a good read, and that holster i saw the other day has to be an Arvos cuase it has the narrow throat at the top that goes through the belt slot.Might be a pre marked one.
