How the SASS scoring system works.

From the top.

1) Each shooter is timed while shooting.  This time is entered as raw time.
2) For each miss a shooter is penalized 5 seconds.  These penalties are ADDED onto the raw time.
3) If a shooter shoots a stage incorrectly they are penalized 10 seconds (This is known as a procedural).  This penalty is added on to raw time in addition to any penalties added on for misses.
4) If a shooter commits a safety violation they recieve a ten second penalty.  This penalty is added on to the raw time in addition to any procedural penalties and penalites for missing.

5) Adjusted time is RAW TIME + MISS PENALTIES + PROCEDURAL PENALTIES + SAFETY PENALTIES

Once the adjusted time is found for each shooter they times are sorted from the lowest time to the longest time and numbered accordingly.  This number is called the STAGE RANK.

The scoring method above is done for each stage.  Then stage ranks are added together to determine OVERALL RANK.  OVERALL rank is what determines where you finish in the match.  The lower that your overall rank is then better.

I figure that they can and should get those from the rule books.  There's enough variations on that goin around already without me throwing another in.
