Willy I'm wondering if maybe during the trip into the lubrisizer, that nose didn't get bulged a bit?
Possible I suppose but I didn't cast these, they were purchased from Slim.

Would you have a good 475132 bullet you could measure for me when you get a chance?

Thanks

The postells I have from my mould measure .447 ahead of the driving band.
The ones I got from Sagebrush a few years back unsized and lubed, measure .448 ahead of the driving band.
Both taper gently out to the ogive.

I sampled a lot of bullets and mine measure consistently .451 so I don't think they were damaged.  Guessing Slim's mold is different.

I have the same problem with hard chambering in my Armi Sports Sharps after the 1st or second round.  Same loads do not seem to be problematic in the rolling block.  I think the reason with the rolling block not being a problem is the greater mechanical advantage of shoving on the tab on the roller.

I think that the reason for the buildup in my case is the longish chamber of both rifles, but that the mechanical advantage on the roller allows me to generate enough force to seat the round in the chamber.  The rounds do not stop anywhere near as far out of the chamber as the picture above suggests.  In my case it is just about the width of the rime out of the chamber, but too far to allow the breach block to raise.  Thinking if there was some more relief on the upper edge of the block, I could force them into the chamber.  Problem is once in, they don't come out again without using cleaning rod or shooting the round.

I shot some bullets with a 3/16 lub cookie sandwiched between two DR Pepper case wads.  Still had the chambering problem.

Started carrying a pistol rod with wet swab to clean chamber between rounds.

Capt dan you need to be a bit mindful about using that breechblock to jam cartridge in to fully chamber, that's how the rollers got the reputation of "shooting backwards"  has been many a thumb busted purtneart off when the firing pin smacked into that cartridge that was stuck in the chamber.

Will watch out for that.  Thanks for the warning.
I may end up buying 45/90 brass and trimming to fit.
Near as I can tell using caveman approach, the chamber is approx 2.189 deep.  Took .460 flatbased bullet dropped in backwards, measure depth to nose of bullet then measured bullet lenght.  Sum of the measurements is 2.189

Before I go hog wild will seat some of the Saeco 645 bullets out to touch the lands.  Then maintaining OAL constant will vary powder charge and or wads to get different degrees of compression.  Will also try wax paper between bullet and wad
