Colt's address London Model 51 Navy used a Steel Backstrap

On the Pietta the shape of the Brass or nickel Brass Grip frame is somewhat belled but they got the steel
London model correct....
Pietta offer's a Harford Line in this line they have a 61 Navy with the steel Backstrap..Norm Fladerman lists Colt's London Model 61's
as scarce...they did exist.
It is the same shape as used on the later 73 Colts.

I believe you would have to buy a "London Model" as major2 said to get the steel back strap and trigger guard or swap one from a '61.
I rightly can't remember where I got this grip (too much Shiner Bock), sorry.............

It is , in fact a double entendree' - referencing firstly the archaic use of
Sinister = Left handed
Dexter = Right Handed

and secondly to the show ....

Latin was not a subject I studied, so that aspect, went right over my head ...

Sinister = Left handed
Dexter = Right Handed

I might have (should have) known , my sister (8 years my senior) suffered the discrimination in Grammer scool , as she is left hand dominant.

You are right it would be natural pairing .... 

Dexter "the Avenging Angel"  &  Sinister " the Destroying Angel "    I like it !

I happen to like Pietta guns.  Alot!!  And, for those who absolutely must have something akin to a "Birdshead" grip, now that EMF is offering their "Pony Express" short barrel SA for the discerning mounted shooter with the "Thunderer" type grip frame, I'll be willing to bet it will swap onto a Pietta 1860, 1861 or 1851 frame with a little fitting.  Being Stainless, there would be no re-bluing involved and it would have the appearance of a silver or nickel plate frame.
The only fly in the ointment would be getting the complete grip frame and trigger guard as "parts."  Expecially to include the wood (checkered of course).

OH yeah !     I like it ..so did the pards , one,  Dakota Ike (Gary Feauto) told me yesterday he wants to send his Remington.

I showed it at the NCOWS shoot yesterday, nothing but good comments.... No ,I did not shoot it   I forgot.... the rounds  for it with everything I had to remember to get the first NCOWS in Florida shoot off it a roaring start..

Hoof Hearted - I have been following Raven's and your posts and pics - most impressive.

My 8 yr old is starting to shoot with me so after I get her set up with some guns and gear I will be looking for a project to get going.

I have hankered for a Star single action conversion in 44 russian for awhile - so thats what I am thinking about.
