Hello all, new guy here...
I've been looking all over the WWW trying to find out some info on a Bannerman shotgun.

I have an old Bannerman 12 gauge pump. It's been hanging on the wall my whole life at least -57 years so far.
I have researched some history on these and have some knowledge about them.

One thing I wonder is that mine really doesn't appear to have a damascus type barrel. I have looked at it as closely as possible and it looks like every other modern shotgun barrel.

From what I have read about these however is that they all were made with a twist steel damascus barrel.

Anyone have any knowledge on this? I have read that some CAS use them..

The one I have is in very nice maybe 90% condition with near perfect bluing and still have some case hardening colors to the receiver.

Says MODEL . 1890 on the receiver..

The barrel is marked SPENCER RPTG. SHOT GUN PAT. APL. 1882

Anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks! -greg

Greg,

For starters, do a search on my Spencer Shooting Society (SSS), just type in Spencer Shotgun for some immediate info.

Bear Flare

Here's a crazy idea... since the problem is the barrel, is there a way to graft a modern barrel onto that shotgun?

Can a stub from a ratty parts barrel be used to mount a new steel barrel?

Just thinking out loud.   :-\
