Husky................12.....2
Lefever..............12.....1
Century..............12.....2

The large majority of barrel length is 30"

Many folks own multiple, inexpensive shotguns. Seems well under $500 is the going price. Folks will spend over $1000 on a revolver or a rifle, but not see the need to spend much over $350 for a SG.............

It does not look like this was well followed , well over 2 year old post...
and the number at that time seem low... in particular Stoeger , TTN , and 97's Originals or replica's.

just a observation ... but I truly believe 12 Gauge is far and away the leader.... 20's next , 16's lag way back , and 10's almost never seen  ( I said almost )....  8's just once and he did not shoot it just, showed it....

In my home , NCOWS Posse'   I can account for having seen used at least 5 TTn's , as many & more Stoegers, 1 Rossi.
many 97's mostly originals , and 3 Century's... I recall a few Baikal ( they were rather common as the importer is just 40 miles over on the coast.....
and several Fox , 311 etc.

nothing scientific here just my casual observation... :-\

Hi,

Like I said in my PM, my choice was non-traditional ... not only did I spend WAY too much on it, I bought a Cap Coyote Norinco '87 ... in 12 Gauge ... another way of saying 'I am not a gamer!'... I even had his son do the 'windowpane on windowpane' laser carving on it ... she may be slow, but she is a 'no go showboat' ( at tip of my fedora to the Beach Boys).

My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...

For Smokeless I use my 1941 Winchester 97/16, or my early Post War II Fox/Savage 16 double. I also have a Savage/Stevens, Range 5000/16. Kinda like 16's  don't ya know. ;)

For Black powder I like to use my Savage 311/12

And I only use all brass shot shells for both 16's & 12's. And reload both Smokeless & BP.

Major, my own casual observation at local SASS shoots in central Texas is pretty much the same as yours, except that in the last couple years some SKB's are showing up with the faster shooters.

As for myself, a TTN that I antiqued, backed up by a Liberty II if I wanna look purty, backed up by a Baikal if I wanna be a gamer.  Never wanted a '97 but now have a Polytech (Cimarron) for Wild Bunch.

after writing in above, I recalled we had a member with an 87 Lever ... I don't know if it was a IAC or Chappa... I do recall he shot a Uberti Schofield & a Uberti SAA paired.  He shoots what he likes and likes what he owns  :)

for something completely different...
A local Gun shop Haunt of mine has a 97 Trench I like ... not sure why but its not SASS legal , I'd think it be OK for WB but not sure.
Haven't shot WB so I have never studied that discipline in detail.

I just like the look of the Trench gun's mean looking retro tech

my favorite guns for hunting and SASS if I shoot are

1894 Parker Bros. 12 gage with Damascus barrels hammer gun
1896 Parker Bros. 12 gage with Damascus barrels hammerless, been it the family since in the 30s much used gun but man does it shoot, of course I shoot nothing but Black Powder in them at all times..fun to hunt with to..I do have a late 1800s Remington 12 gage with Damascus barrels not sure of the year but it has ejectors that I would have to remove to use it in cowboy shooting..so far the need hasn't been there..

A mix of a bunch depending on what level of fun I consider a "hoot" for the shoot.  And, mostly in brass Magtech hulls.

For 12 gauge:  Fox Sterlingworth SXS and 20 inch barrels
Winchester 97 (original) 24 inch barrel
For 16 gauge:  Old Belgian hammered double with 28 inch barrels
Winchester 97 (original) 26 inch barrel
For 20 gauge:  Old Backer Legend in 12 ga sleeved to 20 inches with damascus barrels.

I am going to ask for a 10 gauge for my 75th birthday so I can burn more black powder and shot with each pull of the trigger.  There are still a few RO's that don't duck when I pull the trigger so I know I have some to go.  Idaho Sagerider aka Paledun
