Thought some of you folks might find this interesting. I like to travel to meets on my motorcycle. So I needed a Take-Down........

Enjoy!

Years ago there was an article in The Rifleman for this conversion on a marlin 94.  When they did it they rebarrelled to .45 ACP!

.45 ACP is not that far out of line as I have seen an M92 converted by some South American police force.

I first saw this in an old NRA Gunsmithing book. About 25 years ago! I said one of these days I'm going to do that!

Takedown Marlin leverguns are available.  Lots of Google hits.  Here is a John Taffin article;

rbertalotto, you are a talented guy  :)

Of course, the money you spent on the used gun and new barrel might have come close to buying a take-down Chiappa '92 Octagon, but then it wouldn't have been stainless and you wouldn't have had the satisfaction of knowing it was all your doing.

That is true. But I never intended on having to rebarrel this rifle. The fellow I bought it from assured me it was a shooter. Well,  it did go "bang" so I guess that makes it a shooter!

And I really wanted Stainless Steel........just to be different!

So I have about $600 into this project..............It's only money!

QuoteWhat about all that shop time?

It's FREE!  To me its like playing golf or some other mindless endeavor. I'd rather go tinker in my home shop than do just about anything else. My wife says I like working on my guns more than I like shooting them..........(She might be correct!)
