That pretty much sums up my plans for 2014 as well.

The weather was nice , Finally . Drove down to my favorite shooting hole and  shot a few targets . Even pulled out the saa and fired a few rounds through it . I guess you could say I was practicing  for season . That 44wcf still works after a century .

Spring is almost here . This is the time of year we try to call in a few coyotes , usually it's the hungry ones that come a running . I figure a 73 with a bp load should give a hunter a few style points .

Mother nature is being a BAD girl . Heavy rains are flooding the bottoms . Was planning a scouting trip this weekend but looks like that's a l WASH OUT .

Same up here. Still lots of snow, but it is melting every day. I am getting very antsy to do some casting and shooting, but it might still be a few weeks away.

I will need a canoe to scout . The bottoms are flooded big time . And Turkey season comes in next Saturday . BUT the water has moved the Coyotes to higher ground .
KirkD
Hang in there warm weather is coming .

I shot a big female with a Uberti 44-40 revolver and BP ammo yesterday. Does that count?

I haven't shot one in years, seems the only time I see them anymore, I'm driving and see one running for his hole.

40+ years ago, when my home town wasn't so grown up, I used to shoot them in my Grandma's garden. She's call on the phone, I'd grab Dad's Win 1890 pump 22 from the closet, cross the road to her house, Veeeerrrryyy carefully raise the bathroom window, then blaze away. Funny, when she called, she would whisper on the phone, didn't want the groundhog to hear her call in the artillery.....

Went to our hunting cabin over the weekend . We mowed grass and did a few other chores . We also shot a few clay birds after wards . I fired a few rounds from my 73 and she is ready for the 2014 Deer season . I can't wait till hunting season .

Getting ready for the fall hunting season, I see! I haven't fired my '73 since it took a nice doe last fall. You are making me think I need to dust it off again and head to the range.

I plan on shooting my rifle tomorrow . Wonder why if you have your rifle with you , you won't see any Ground Hogs . But if you leave that rifle at home they are EVERYWHERE ? I guess the moral of the story is never be unarmed .

Rowdy,

Doubt if this qualifies...LOL.  I had 2 woodchucks (ground hogs) who wanted to stay under my Barn (shed). But they made the wrong choice... I used my Marlin 783 which is chambered for Win 22 WMR.  No more woodchucks under the barn. I Live inside city limits and with all the new construction in the area the hogs are moving into town. These two just happened to choose the wrong resident for their home sight.

Looks like you fixed the problem .
