Well, I finally got my FAC back from the Powlice who had it since mid May!!
I bought this through Gun Trader UK and I must say although its second hand I honestly don't think its had a round put through it!!
It is Spotless!!  ;D
The really innestin thing is the backstrap its PLUMB!! Not blue Plumb!! I must say it really sets the gun off, the blue is really deep almost like Colt Black The only thing wrong is the timing its way off the bolt rises VERY early, Which leads to another reason why I don't think its been used. the few times I cycled it I noticed a very slight mark starting to appear just before the recess for the bolt so I pulled it apart and YEP the timing is crap!! I will be sorting that out before I do anything else to it!!

Phil;

Does this mean that the "TEN POUNDER" will be declared surplus?  Maybe just become part of a trio "The good, the bad, & the ugly"?  Which role is left to you? ;D

Flint

The fluted cylinder must be very carefully timed, as the bolt dropping too early has to climb the flute, making cocking harder and marking the cylinder.  They have to be timed to drop the bolt head into the lead cut and not before.  Too late and it will miss the notch.

Fer SC..Hmmmm Now then, At the moment the £10`er Is still one of my main match gunz,  ;D

My ultimate set up is gonna be a brace of `60 Armies, One full pipe and the other I`ve decided on 5 1/2 ins
I will see which one shoots the best and then give the other a taste of the Hacksaw!!
The £10`er will then be a backup.

Fer Flint

`preciate yer input pard, I find it totally weird that a quality gun like this,  and like I mentioned I`m sure it has not had a rd through it could be soooo badly timed!! My other 1860 also has a fluted cylinder (I prefer this model), so I understand exactly what you are saying  ;)
Here is a piccie... of it in the white..

Finished Rust Blued by meownself.

Paladin,

I also enjoy the look of the full flutes and have a pair of 1861s so built.

Your 1860, the one you refinished, appears to be a metallic conversion.  Who did the work and what cartridge does it use?  I have not seen any of the full fluted cylinders converted to cartridge, it is interesting to say the least.

That is PUK's secret Semi-Conversion!

As cartridge pistols are prohibited in the UK, there are problems to surmount.  The way PUK did it was to create a conversion ring to contain regular primers.  They are cheaper, neater, and always (for now ???) available.

What a great idea!  Necessity (or Draconian gun laws) is the mother of invention!
