Two Flints - I crimped the hinge so it would stay in what ever position it was put as per Sgt John's suggestion. Its not spring loaded.

I think the hinge you posted would work for the next one.

I've worn it out with full kit and it works well and is comfortable to wear and run (slowly!) with.

You are very, very kind sir.  Black dye covers a lot of sins.

One thing you might be interested in is that I didn't punch the stitching holes - I used a Dremel Tool with 1 1/16" bit.  It frees up a hand for those close stitch points.
