I have three sets of Vintage "Aladdin Thermos's" and "Wide Mouth Themos's" I want to make case's to hold two or one of each 1 wide mouth and one hot drink. Plus two binocular case's. One "Cabelas Astronomical Binocular 20X80" and one "Vintage Redfield Black Armored 10X40".

I have the Stohlman book on sewing sew it looks like I can do the bottom like a toe plug on a holster like in Chucks DVD.
What I'm thinking is the top should be mitered at 45 degrees and sewn in that way. Am I close?
TIA,
Duke

Perhaps someone will jump in and help out but Stohlman did a series of three books on making leather cases and almost your exact projects are covered in them.  They are a pretty nice set and cover many good techniques and skills that are frequently needed.  I will try to remember to check which books cover these particular projects BUT it will likely be Monday before I go out to the shop again.

Just use the old case to make a new template , and most are tapered

They never came with a case unfortunately. The originals were leather covered cardboard. I'm swinging towards 12oz for this beings the two thermos's are heavy when filled and need some support whilst hanging from a saddle horn.
