There is an article in the latest issue of Man at Arms Gun and Sword Collector (Oct.) on a Trapdoor carbine that is believed to be a LBH survivor.Interesting article as it describes the methods used to ID it by matching firing pin impressions to the cartridge casings found by Park Service archeologists,39 of them found in two locations on different excavations. That Trooper must have had cajones.

Is that the one the Nebraska State Historical Society owns?

It's in the hands of a private collector. It talks about the fact that 250 carbine stocks were shipped to Ft.Abraham Lincoln after the LBH battle to repair carbines that had been damaged,so this particular collector sought out LBH range serial numbers with replacement stocks. It is though by the location of the cartridges it might have been one of the Troopers in Lt.E.S.Godfrey's unit.

The one the NSHS has I believe was with Reno's troops, it's been a while, I used to be a docent there.
