Our TG told us about a new rule under consideration. If a shooter "FOR ANY REASON" does not finish all stages he will not be eligible for any award!

Here's a quote from Bad Hombre on the SASS wire. I think it about covers it :D ;D

"We should call it the SASS Affirmative Action rule.
I mean if a Freddy Fast Fingers can take 1 or 2 DNFs and still beat me, he's got to go!!!
Dang it boys...How am I ever going to get me one of them shinny new buckles, if I have to earn it!!!!!"

I agree with the rule.  I think that in order to win you should have to compete in the full competition.  Fast Freddy just might decide to skip a stage because it's raining and if he had shot he may have grabbed a wet slick gun and dropped it loaded.  Since he didn't shoot though he preserved his place in the ranks.

JMHO and about 50% agree with it and about 50% don't based upon conversation on another forum. ;D

We around here are calling it the "T-Bone Dooley" Rule!
Twice in the past few years he had Heat Stroke and didn't shoot 2 stages, once at Texas State and once at the Midwest Regional...He still won Classic Cowboy because there's no one even close to his times!
SO, I guess some are thinking even if you get sick and are carted off the the Hospital and you are good enough that nobody can catch up with you even if you aren't physically  able to finish some one who's not Championship Material should win???

BS!!! :o

It doesn't make a lick of sense that a guy can not shoot every stage and still win. At one time if you didn't finish or shoot a stage you got 999.99 as a score on that stage(s).
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Where I shoot in Victoria BC, a stage that is DNF is scored as 999.99 seconds.  (We are now a SASS region so I,m not sure if that is still the case.)

How about them apples?  Pretty hard to win then, and maybe a reasonable way to solve the problem.

You Still do!!! But, most Big Matches are Rank Point matches!
At Total Time matches you get all misses + 30 seconds. So, 24 misses (10-10-4) = 120 seconds + 30 seconds =150
I had a SDQ At SW Regional last year and still placed 3rd in SD.

That's the way they score them here too.  Believe it or not some still are fast enough while others are slow enough that the guy with DNFs can win.

Edited to add that's in rank scoring.  In total time they take the highest time for the stage and add some number to it for DNFs.
