Please forgive me if this has been asked, but i suck with searching forums. Anyway, i just bought a Stoeger/Uberti 1873 SAA Cattlemen Millenium .45LC. Iwant to get into the cowboy shooting scene, but the ammo is expensive. This is my first CAS type gun, and I have no experience shooting these type guns. So I have a 2 part question; 1) Can I fire FMJ rounds thru this gun with the .45 ACP cylinder? I've read in other places with similar guns, you can only fire straight lead bullets in this caliber. This is my first revolver, so i don't know how this works. Anyway, 2) Does these 2 rounds feel similar when fired. I have a ton of .45 ACP I have acquired, and it would be alot cheaper to practice with these. However, I don't want to be shooting myself in the foot (pun intended). Anyway, thanks in advance for the help.

Kdog,

There should be no problems fireing jacketed through the pistol with the correct cylinder (45 acp vs 45 colt).  I would not recomend that you shoot +p though.

I only shoot to support my reloading habit.

Don't believe you'll be allowed to fire jacketed bullets at any NCOW's matches, only lead bullets. Also don't believe that 45acp is allowed either, since it wasn't available back in the 1800's. There is a SASS category (name escapes me at the moment) that you can use the acp cartridge in a match

I didnt figure i would be able to use them competitively, but i was just wondering if the feel of the recoil and the firing of the round was comparable to the LC. I dont want to practice with them, if they won't help in the long run. Thanks again!

Kdog,

The balistics of the 45acp closely follow the 45LC.
