I just noticed this today in an advertisement, on the Filapino Channel my wife watches sometimes. Was at the computer when out of the corner of my eye, there's soldiers in blue and tan! Looked it up online, it was actually filmed on my wifes home island of Bohol, Philippines. Opening in the US Aug 19th.

Not sure about technical accuracy, did notice that everyone had crossed sabers insignia on their campaign hats. Also, the colonel wears an 1898 uniform with the contrasting pocket flaps and cuffs, but they are dark brown? What branch had that(if any).

Warning: If you're looking for America as the hero, doesn't look like you'll find it in this film.(which is probably pretty true of the whole Philippine-American war)

In addition to seeing the film, I'd really like to see anything they might put out on "the making of the movie", just because of our connection to the area. Bohol isn't a very big island, maybe 50-60 miles by 30-40 wide, so it has to be near her home!

They've got crossed infantry rifles, which is correct.  The facings appear to be faded blue, again correct.  But whoever thought of tacking cavalry shoulder boards lengthwise on the epulets of an infantry uniform!  Or those same shoulderboards on an infantry luetenants shirt.  At least got to see some Krags!   ;D
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

Those shoulder boards did kind of irritate the eyes didn't they?

From the trailer this film seems more of a political statement on the US involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq, what with the waterboarding and mistreatment of civilians, not to mention the issue of who can you trust.  That said, I might try to see it if I can find a theater showing it.  Political issues aside (and I'll freely admit our actions in the Philippines left much to be desired) there aren't a whole lot of films of this era.  Plus, it offers a different perspective, whether I agree with it or not.

I looked at some of the interviews of the director, and he does make some comparisons to Iraq and Afghanistan, and Vietnam. Hopefully there's more to the movie than that. Hard to tell from just the trailer. But at least the scenery looks good, since I'm pretty sure it's somewhere within 20-25 miles of where my wife is from.

The Philippine uniforms looked right, at least similar to the few pictures I've seen. I couldn't get a good enough look at their rifles, though. I would guess that they should either be Spanish Mausers, or Rolling blocks, taken from the Spanish.
