I know a good scrimshander in Louisville. I will see him next week and I will ask if he interested in a table at the convention and/or doing a seminar.

That would be an interesting thing if we can get him to come. Hutch just did a set of gun grips for one of my customers.

Well, Rats!  I had heard that the Armor Center was moving to Ft. Benning (if I remember correctly) but I sure didn't realize that the Museum would move, too.

I don't wish to get into the "politics" of the move;  I can see the need for combining training between ALL the branches for modern warfare, but it sure is a shame!  It sure doesn't help Kentucky economy!

Another tradition shattered for reasons of "expediency!"

Damn!!!

Major 2, if you see this, I think your idea ... which was a good one ... doesn't have much point now.  I rather liked your idea!

Jeff the "light mafia" is in charge of the Army at this time.  They built a new museum just off post at the Army Manuever Center (Fort Benning) but I have not been to it.  I go thru Columbus on the way to my son's house but dont stop as I dont have any pleasant memories of Benning.

The Patton Museum IS open and operating. Some of the outside vehicle displays have been removed for restoration but they  are scheduled to be returned by March. It is a neat place to visit and admission is free.

Grumble, grumble!   >:(

Yep.  The grunts  powers-that-be have ALWAYS disliked Armor and ANY attempt to have anything "special"  (black berets in the '80s, a "Combat Armor Badge," etc.) gets tromped down immediately.

Most likely.  I have attended 2 Conventions and at both, they had an NCOWS member "inspector" who verified that all guns were unloaded and safe.  I think they used the plastic tie thingy like at most gunshows.  Then, the revolvers (I don't remember ANY rifles or shotguns carried) went into the holster and the plastic didn't show.

See ya there!

Ky is open carry state but we need to handle it like most gun shows and shoots and have all weapons cold since it is a show after all and people might be wanting to look at the guns.

Also for anyone looking for something else to do while in this area, the Frazier arms museum in Louisville has a civil war exhibit going on now. If I remember right it is called "Civil War: My brother, my enemy" and from what I understand covers a lot of the impact on Kentucky with divided families and friends over the war.

I haven't seen the exhibit yet but I know Mr. Fraziers son in law and have also read an article on the exhibit. I understand it is supposed to be a 3800 sq. ft. exhibit and features over 100 artifacts including flags, letters, rare uniforms, photos, etc. There is also a Mary Todd Lincoln collection there, she was originally from Lexington Kentucky and had relatives fighting for the confederacy.

To my understanding the exhibit goes through the first part of April.

I think this is really shaping up to be a great convention. This will be my first conventon so I can't really compare it previous years but we do have 17 confirmed vendors already signed up. We will have several very interesting seminars and presentations. I am going to be set up to take studio photos. We have generated a lot of public interest by promoting the convention at local gun shows and several interested parties have told me that they will be coming. We have a great banquet in the works. We will have a drawing for a fantastic pistol package. It sounds like it is going to be a real blast. I hope everyone can make it!

I made reservations at the moptel and am sending in application, it's a long drive from Iowa but it sounds like it will be well worth
it. Will there be a Friday night hospitality room /potluck like in the past?

Bear Tooth Billy, glad to hear you will be heading this way.  If anyone wants to volunteer their motel room for the hospitality room, they would be welcome to do that.  We can't do that at the Convention Center.  See you in March.    JIM

Anyone know if the Convention Center has WiFi?

Since White Castle started serving chili, chili cheese fries, and beer (along with wine at select locations) it's been a little slice of heaven.
